Wow, only 160 miles a month for twenty years. How in the world did you manage to keep the mileage so low?

“..1968 Mustang 290 Fastback...”

Should say “390”.

Are they making a retro issue of that car? It will be expensive, for sure.

I love the way Ford used the 67-68 body lines for the new Mustangs.

Plenty of the actual vehicles may have been built in the US.

But the profits go primarily to Japan and to a smaller degree, Germany.

Dodge Charger and 67-668 Mustangs... two of my favorites.

There’s a scene in Bullitt, during the chase, where they blow past what appears to be a 68 Pontiac GTO as well, with the snorkel hood scoops. Also a white 68 Firebird in another scene.

So many badass cars were around back then.

1998 Mercury Grand Marquis LS - 190,000+ and still going strong. Took a pretty bad beating in a monster hailstorm, and insurance won’t repair it, but it’s still a tank and I feel could take me across country without a problem. Love that car!

I drive a 2007 Lincoln Town Car....under 40,000 miles, clean, needs little to no repairs - just regular maintenance.

Drives like a sailboat gliding the waters, lovely to look at but built like a tank, biggest trunk on the road, loaded with everything. Paid very little for it as the manufacturing of the luxury Lincoln vehicles was discontinued.....the dealers all went out of business and I got this one remaining beauty off the back lot of a selling-out dealer for a song.

Now, since the car is no longer being made, it has become a collector's item....I occasionally watch the on-going bids on the internet and the bids are for considerably more than I paid...and going up, up every year.

However, this treasure is so low-maintenance that I'm keeping it ( plus it's a great attention-getter ! )....and the vehicle will outlive me !

I’ve had no issues with the frame on my 98 Silverado, but I did have to replace.most of the front suspension last year.

Other than that, no other major repairs in 200,000 miles. And she’s still purty, after all these years.

I got my wife a ‘99 Tahoe back in 2001. Loved that vehicle, but I wound up trading it in for a new Suburban in 2005.

The wife.now drives a 2013 Silverado, but I do miss the wagons.

The new Subaru Ascent looks pretty nice, and will (at least if true to its heritage) get you places (or through them) that no Highlander dare go. OTOH, if basically you need a “mall finder” the Highlanders are great, well made and well thought out vehicles. As much as I like our Outback, Subarus can have a couple things really hard to work on that shouldn’t be...

But the Outback with good(!) snow tires is amazing in even 12” or more of snow.

I’d really like to “land” a used Toyota Sequoia AWD, someday, but they are hard to come by at a decent price - owners really do seem to hang on to them. We settled for an excellent condition used ‘08 Explorer for towing and cargo capacity: It’s decent enough, but it is NOT at the same quality and “thought out” level as even our Outback.

The new Ridgelines don’t have that crap in the side of the bed anymore, and it looks like a real truck, not a Chevy Avalanche wannabe... The new ones are nice trucks.

Is one a snow blower and the other a lawn mower lol (j/k)

Nope. Both very reliable cars.

There are probably plenty of mundane LeMans and 6 cyl Firebirds and Camaros, maybe Mustangs out that that can be had for a (relative) song.

If you only want "the look" and not matching number/factory hotrods, there are ways to build such a car without spending a fortune.

Me? I'd like to have a 68 Chevelle SS sedan delivery.

(hint: there never was such a thing)

1998 Chevy Silverado, bought new off the dealer lot. 200,000 miles and still running strong.

1997 Chevy Tahoe (bought new), which I finally parted with a few months ago. By far the longest I've ever owned a vehicle. Gave me very little trouble.
