President Donald Trump on Friday appeared to deny he insulted Haiti and African nations as "shithole countries” but admitted he used “tough” language during a discussion about an immigration deal with lawmakers.
“The language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough, but this was not the language used,” Trump tweeted. “What was really tough was the outlandish proposal made - a big setback for DACA!”
On Thursday, Trump used vulgar language during a meeting with a bipartisan group of senators at the White House, a Democratic aide briefed on the meeting told NBC News. When they were talking about Haiti, Trump questioned why Haitians should be given specific consideration, two sources briefed on the conversation said.
“Why do we need more Haitians, take them out,” he said, according to sources. Someone else in the room responded: “Because if you do, it will be obvious why.”
The White House issued a statement Thursday that did not deny the remarks. But Trump wrote Friday that he, "Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country."
"Never said 'take them out.' Made up by Dems. I have a wonderful relationship with Haitians. Probably should record future meetings - unfortunately, no trust!" he added.
Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., who attended the meeting, said Friday that Trump used all of the language that has been attributed to him in media reports.
"...in the course of his comments, (the president) said things which were hate filled, vile and racist," Durbin told reporters. "I use those words advisedly. I understand how powerful they are, but I cannot believe that in the history of the White House and that Oval Office, any president has ever spoken the words that I personally heard our president speak yesterday.

What he actually said is “their deal was a “shithole” deal.
And it was!
Any country with a lick of sense has a priority on the sort of immigrants it wants. Now refugees may be different but this is about immigration. The main criteria should be what and how will they contribute to the betterment of this country. Not, “how can we better get them on assistance?”.

Anyone with a shred of intellectual honesty would prefer immigrants from First World nations such as Norway over dirt-poor, uneducated migrants from Haiti, Central America and Sudan.

This is what you get for treating a Democrat with respect, invite him to the White House, include him in the highest-level policy meeting, sit him right next to you in the most honored place at the table, give him time to express his views and listen respectfully to all his colleagues.
He feeds your off-record comments to the media, lies about what you said and then stabs you in the back when you deny making the remarks. There is no worse character of politician than today’s Democrats. I can’t think of one among all of them today on the national scene who has a shred of honor or decency or that can be trusted with any off-record conversation.
Trump should announce a policy that all meetings with Democrats will from now on be held on camera and/or recorded because they can’t be trusted. I hope he uses this example to announce such a policy.
Out of power Democrats keep trying in vain to find something that will work against the President.
Maybe a course correction in their lies, deceit, and corruption would be a start.
