Durbin Statement On New White House Immigration Proposal
U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) ^ | 1/5/2018 | U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL)

WASHINGTON—U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) released the following statement on the Trump Administration’s immigration policy demands presented to Senate negotiators this afternoon. The White House released the same list of demands in October of 2017. Today, they demanded an additional $18 billion in funding for the construction of a border wall.

“President Trump has said he may need a good government shutdown to get his wall. With this demand, he seems to be heading in that direction. I’ve been clear from the beginning that Senate Democrats will consider reasonable border security measures in order to pass the Dream Act into law. The Trump Administration set this crisis in motion when it ended DACA four months ago. It’s outrageous that the White House would undercut months of bipartisan efforts by again trying to put its entire wish-list of hardline anti-immigrant bills—plus an additional $18 billion in wall funding—on the backs of these young people.

Bipartisan negotiations continue in good faith among senators who understand what is at stake, and I will continue my efforts to reach a bipartisan agreement.”

It has been four months since the Trump Administration terminated DACA and called for Congress to come up with a legislative solution. More than 14,500 Dreamers have already lost their DACA status, and beginning on March 5th, 1,000 additional young people will lose this protection each day.

Hey, Durbin, F.U.!!

Funny, isn’t it, the douche doesn’t seem to know the Democrats don’t have the White House or the Senate or the House.... yet he thinks he can dictate terms. Oh, right, coz we do have too many squishy RINOs who enable Durbin & Schumer, et al. to function this way.

There are 23 Democrat and 2 Independent (Commie) Senators up for reelection in 2018.

And only 8 Republicans.

Durbin is bluffing. The Democrat caucus is not going commit suicide.

I’m with James Woods: no DACA in any form or as any currency for border security. No mas!

Why do the DemonRats HATE a "BIG, beautiful WALL"???

Because a BIG, BEAUTIFUL WALL is difficult for a future DemonRat president to UNDO! Virtual walls can be UNDONE instantaneously but a BIG, BEAUTIFUL WALL has a certain permanence to it.

This is why the DemonRats always suggest anything BUT a BIG, BEAUTIFUL WALL!!!

Here is Trump White House "fact sheet": https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/trump-administration-immigration-policy-priorities/

Here, but not 70 points:

Executive Summary

The Trump Administration is ready to work with Congress to achieve three immigration policy objectives to ensure safe and lawful admissions; defend the safety and security of our country; and protect American workers and taxpayers.

BORDER SECURITY: Build a southern border wall and close legal loopholes that enable illegal immigration and swell the court backlog.

Fund and complete construction of the southern border wall.

Authorize the Department of Homeland Security to raise and collect fees from visa services and border-crossings to fund border security and enforcement activities.

Ensure the safe and expeditious return of Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) and family units.

End abuse of our asylum system by tightening standards, imposing penalties for fraud, and ensuring detention while claims are verified.

Remove illegal border crossers quickly by hiring an additional 370 Immigration Judges and 1,000 ICE attorneys.

Discourage illegal re-entry by enhancing penalties and expanding categories of inadmissibility.

Improve expedited removal.

Increase northern border security.

INTERIOR ENFORCEMENT: Enforce our immigration laws and return visa overstays.

Protect innocent people in sanctuary cities.

Authorize and incentivize States and localities to help enforce Federal immigration laws.

Strengthen law enforcement by hiring 10,000 more ICE officers and 300 Federal prosecutors.

End visa overstays by establishing reforms to ensure their swift removal.

Stop catch-and-release by correcting judicial actions that prevent ICE from keeping dangerous aliens in custody pending removal and expanding the criteria for expedited removal.

Prevent gang members from receiving immigration benefits.

Protect U.S. workers by requiring E-Verify and strengthening laws to stop employment discrimination against U.S. workers.

Improve visa security by expanding State Department’s authority to combat visa fraud, ensuring funding of the Visa Security Program, and expanding it to high-risk posts.

MERIT-BASED IMMIGRATION SYSTEM: Establish reforms that protect American workers and promote financial success.

End extended-family chain migration by limiting family-based green cards to include spouses and minor children.

Establish a points-based system for green cards to protect U.S. workers and taxpayers.

SENATOR DURBIN shows “concern” about DREAMERS, but has no conscience about killing AMERICAN BABIES in the womb, including partial birth abortion.

What is missing:

1. End birthright citizenship

2. Deport illegal aliens; else if the children who truly came as children, get to stay, make it conditional on the parents and families leaving so that this does not become chain migration

Point 2, what to do with the illegal aliens that brought the children here is the biggest challenge and question. SEND THEM HOME as a condition of conditional residency TO FINISH SCHOOL. Any kid with any record whatsoever should simply be ineligible and get deported with their parents.

This is wonderful news!! Trump is demanding 100% of the Wall. That is what he promised and once again he is keeping his promise!! And we dont give a crap if he shuts down non essential government to do that since it ought not to exist any way. I love our President and we stand with him for 100% of the wall and Durbin can go to hell!!

Senate Democrats will consider reasonable border security measures in order to pass the Dream Act into law

THE WALL is a reasonable border security measure.

“The Trump Administration set this crisis in motion when it ended DACA four months ago.”

Wrong, Dick. Obama set this crisis in motion when he unilaterally decreed DACA.

Portions of a wall between the US and Mexico already exist.
Does he propose we tear that wall down?

Why would it be OK to have walls in some areas and not others? Isn’t this discriminatory?

Using liberal so-called logic it seems there should be a complete wall (where feasible) or no wall. Since portions of the wall already exists it makes sense to complete it and enhance it as needed.

Sadly, he’s right about the bipartisan part. There are certainly many Republicans who are eager to pass an amnesty. These “bipartisan” amnesty proponents probably have the votes, but will they risk the ire of (most) Americans who oppose amnesty? That’s one obstacle for the no borders globalists. The other is Trump, our literal trump card on whatever Congress passes. Pray he holds firm.

Remember the Reagan amnesty. The open borders crowd ultimately got everything they wanted, while Reagan (and America) ended up with zip, zilch, nada!
