It would be fun to think that his button was purchased by one of his generals in ‘Toys R Us’ just to shut him up.

I think those are not shakers but paper weights. He has a map on his desk. They are probably for keeping the sheet of map from being blown away by wind.
It appears to be the map of E. Asia, but I am not really sure.
