A dog was found buried alive in a dumpster last week outside a business in suburban Atlanta.
Emily Goldstein told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that her neighbor found the beagle while taking out the trash at work.
The neighbor and a few coworkers rummaged through the garbage to rescue the dog after he heard a whining sound coming from the dumpster, the paper reported.
Goldstein told the paper she believes the beagle, which had no collar or form of identification, is between 1 and 2 years old.
She and her neighbor put an online advertisement in an effort to locate the owner, and are determining the next step in finding the dog a new home......

What a precious dog-I’m sure he will get the best home ever. a couple of months ago, my neighbor and friend agreed to keep/foster a treeing hound of some kind-he looks a lot like that beagle, but is a bit bigger-a lot of people out here have 2-3 hounds like that if they hunt raccoons and other varmints for pelts to make craft items to sell. He’d been found walking down the main FM, sniffing the air and obviously looking for someone. He had a collar but no tags, no chip-it didn’t take my friend even a week to decide to keep the dog-no owner has showed up-so he was neutered, he sleeps in a fancy pet bed beside hers, follows her literally everywhere and is very good with her 3 cats and other people-so he fell into high cotton. I hope that little hound gets a new owner like my friend.
I buy my dogs from recommended AKC kennels as pups-always a large, protective breed-because I want best of breed and I expect them to bond with and protect me and my cats. On the other hand, I’ve never had a cat that I didn’t either find at, or foster for the local animal welfare society-they are kept indoors, spoiled outrageously and live long lives.
That pup didn’t just look up at the dumpster and think, “OK, now how do I get into it and get stuck?” If my wife didn’t have a whole pile of house cats, I’d be in the car and in Lilburn in about an hour and change. Pooch would love it because tonight is Pork Chop Saturday.
A few years ago I found a young cat. I posted signs and called all the area vets to try to find its owner. I received quite a few calls from people whose cats were missing. A few of them were from women whose boyfriends had 'kidnapped' their cats after their relationship ended. One said her former boyfriend left a message saying he had taken her cat to a bad part of town and threw it out the window of the car.
p.s. I found a wonderful home for the cat who was loved by a family with three daughters who loved to brush his coat. The first thing the cat did at his new home was to go out and find a mouse which he brought home to his new owners. A homecoming gift.
Not even remotely possible, PETArds always kill the animals before throwing them in the dumpster, to prevent them from ever being enslaved again.
Vengeful exes are the worst-taking anger out on an innocent animal. My Maine Coon was taken and dumped off at the shelter by a snowbird’s assh*** ex-he was heading back up north without the woman and had no use for her cat. The poor animal was pulling out his fur from stress and was skin and bones-I agreed to foster him-within two weeks, I paid the adoption fee and he joined my pack. He died in his sleep at 18 just over a year ago...
Anyone who thinks a BEAGLE would have made it into the compactor without making that LOUD bizarre sound that they make hasn’t spent much time around Beagles.
I can understand Beagles smelling for food (their sense of smell is incredible) but I cant imagine one getting into a dumpster by themselves; even into the side access door, which is 3 feet off the ground.
When they find the so called human that did this, they should be sentenced, to the same.
God bless you.
Cats get fixed and go to the barn but the dogs either have to go to the shelter or, if they have joined a pack, put down.
This is farm country and the one of the major way we lose animals is to a feral dog pack.
Some days I do not like humans that much.
Our neighbor had a beagle for a while. They would leave it outside to bay for hours at a time. Drove me nuts. I thought about getting a gun a few times, not for the dog, for the owners. Luckily they got rid of it before any homicides...
If you want a friend, get a dog. They will love you when no one else will. they understand us and forgive us for our weaknesses. I’d much rather be with my dogs than 99% of the people I know.
Maybe the previous owner followed the pack-leader school of thought made popular by the Dog Whisperer.
I followed Cesar Milans advice when raising my black lab, and am very happy with the results.
Only complaint - the damn dog follows me everywhere - and I mean everywhere all the time, with expectant eyes! I feel so bad when Im just going to take a piss!
LOL. Shes the best dog ever!
And she was great with my cat, before he died. :(
They're the worst.
Even the best among us are self-centered and selfish - and just gets worse from there.
People are not good - the 1st Chapter of Romans wasn't directed at "those" people - Paul was talking about every one of us.
And yes, He wrote His law on our hearts - but we don't follow His law - that's why we need a Savior.
(Do you know Him? Would you like to?)
We have a dog that I can guarantee you no one else would have kept. Shes super hyperactive, stubborn as hell, smart as a whip, and just an all around ahole at times. We got her at 2 months old and shes now 1 1/2.
Shes the biggest pain and just a lot of work.
We never considered getting rid of her simply because we knew what would happen to her eventually. We just work with her every day, grin and bear it, and hope that as she gets a little older it gets easier.
Beagle’s range far and wide. Hounds in general follow their nose and many are never seen again.
I’ve seen a few over the years. They rarely come close enough to capture, and a few have seen much better days.
Sad really. Often it wasn’t caused... but it did occur.
Berkowitz. Dahmer. De Salvo. Bundy. Cunanan. Malvo. Rader.
I’ve always followed the pack leader school of thought, since it is the most prudent if you have large dogs that are on that bad dog list-you had better be the Alpha, or things can go bad really fast-it works-I’ve had 2 German Shepherds, a Chow and a Siberian Husky-never been bitten nor has any family member.
My Husky girl was especially devoted to protecting me by following me around everywhere the minute I walked in the door-her heart gave out in her sleep almost 2 years ago, but she was 17-that is old even for a Husky-she was one of a kind-I still miss her following me around when I get home from work-I think the cats do, too...
