Did you ask any of them 'Why'? I am curious.
I know the group that works all our polls. A couple of them hang out in the mornings at McDonalds having coffee. You know, the “senior bunch”. My father-in-law is very much a regular so I am on polite speaking terms with all of them.
I voted at midday, and I was # 206 when my ballot was swiped. I was surprised, usually in my town of 5,000 there’d be at least 500. Well, I asked the poll guy I knew how busy they had been. “Not very.” was his reply.
I went to Hardee’s to get a biscuit this morning. The McDonalds is closed due to construction. Saw the same guy there. He said not many people came through in total.
Now, I’ll just say this anecdotally, but my town is very Republican, 75-80% white. Our votes were a shadow of what we totaled in November 2016.
Why more people didn’t vote? I don’t know.
