Just like ancient Rome did. What’s old is new again.

So the .12 cents a gallon gas tax wasn’t enough for the thieves running California. Who didn’t see that coming.

so its NOT about using less gas...its not about carbon and its not about globull warming...

its about more money so we can pay govt workers and their private business partners tons more in wages and benefits....

arses....I will not visit Cali ever if this passes...

and now that the feds might be removing all deductions, we can't even work out a plan to deduct all these gas taxes as work related....

this is ultimately not fair for those of us who have to actually go into our job sites and work....(but I'm not in Cali)

Electric cars are costing the state in gas taxes! Oh, no! But we’re making sure the earth will be a nice place to live a thousand years from now.

Which makes me wonder does the pope believe Jesus will ever return?

What about if you drive out of state? I recently put over 1000 miles on the car driving in other states. Are they going to charge me for those 1000 Mike’s which didn’t happen on California roads?

It sounds like this should only apply to electric and hybrids. Regular folks are still paying the gas tax.

GO for IT!

Tax your sanctuary cities, counties and state out of each and every bit of their livelihoods!

After all, its your money not theirs and you know better how to use it than the mere unwashed peon “workers!”

If they do this, I will put a proposition on the Ballot to make it a FELONY Punishable by 20 years in Prison for ANY Public Employee that uses a Taxpayer Owned or Funded Vehicle for any reason not strictly work related, including driving back and forth to work from home.

Ever since the idea about electric cars came about, people have talked about the need for creative ways to ensure they pay their share for the roads. They can’t just charge exorbitant tab fees on them because nobody would buy them.

I wonder what it means for people from Washington, Nevada and Oregon who drive in California.

“The reality is that if you have a smartphone your data of where you are traveling is already in existence,” Wiener said.

This could be used to not only tally up how many kilometers in total you have travelled since last filling your tank - it could also be used to determine your destinations, your driving habits, etc.

Fortunately, I have a snappy come-back: "What's this 'smartphone' you keep talking about?"

Regards,

Note how individual privacy doesn’t even register a passing thought to these totalitarian thugs.

Since the revenue problem is caused by electric, hybrid, and high MPG cars, only drivers of those cars should pay by the mile.

“If you own an older vehicle that is fueled by gas, you’re paying gas tax to maintain the roads. Someone who has an electric vehicle or a dramatically more fuel efficient vehicle is paying much less than you are. But they are still using the roads,”
Wasn’t that part of the selling point you stupid asshat???

For what California Democrats spend on the care and feeding of their illegal voters, they could have gold-plated freeways from Oregon to the Mexican border.

[The state says it needs more money for road repairs, and the gas tax just isn’t bringing in enough revenue.]

Because welfare for illegals is getting very expensive. Anybody who believes this will go to road repairs is delusional.
