Republicans fear deep losses in 2018 elections
The Hill ^ | December 13, 2017 | Reid Wilson

Posted on 12/13/2017 6:13:14 AM PST by C19fan

After years of strong gains in states across the country, Republicans now fear they stand to lose hundreds of state legislative seats in next year’s midterm elections if there is a significant voter backlash against President Trump.

Any losses would come at the worst time: Just ahead of the redistricting process that begins with the 2020 census.

If the Dems regain control of the House, you can be certain that Trump will be impeached. Of course, they still won’t have the votes to remove him from office in the Senate, but I don’t think that will stop them from impeaching him.

Will they be OK being replaced by Democrates?

First, they won't all need to be replaced. Mitch and Ryan will ensure their own safety, while at the same time they will underfund GOP'ers who march out of step with them. Second, and most important, most Democrats are their buds. They'll be fine in the minority, it's their natural home.

Hey, trust me, they're good at this stuff.

They don't fear losses, they want them and are willing to accept being in the minority to get rid of President Trump.

The Moore loss was a win for Mcconnell who is now one seat closer to what he wants and thats a single seat democrat majority. Mcconnell wants to ensure the dems are in charge by the midterms. This will effectively end the Trump Presidency.

The federal government is so corrupt it's hard to imagine it can ever be fixed. I have not given up on President Trump yet, if anyone can do it he can but it's looking really bad.

There are better hills to die on than the individual mandate.

Since the Republicans campaigned for the Democrat in Alabama, I consider them a hostile party, and likely won’t be voting for their candidates anymore.

Looking at my 401K and like the way things are going.

Congressional pubbies need to get rid of McConnell and Ryan, and some other Flakes (see what I did there?) in the northeast who are closet democrats.

Second, enough is enough with farce that is collusion-russia-etc and ethical claims against Trump. The first is BS the second is..I really don’t care. I didn’t vote for a pathetic girly man like Jeb or acne covered high schooler like Rubio. Didn’t vote for somebody because their dad was a mailman, or another that lawyer who someday will be ready for the spotlight. I didn’t vote for anyone but a successful badass CEO not a part of the swamp. He’s doing exactly what needs to be done AND IT’S ABOUT DAMN TIME THE CONGRESS DID THEIR PART!

I hate the RINOs and the GOPe as much as the next Conservative, so my plan is to:

*Send $$$ directly to candidates I support, no matter where they live.

*Vote AGAINST Democrats whenever I can.

*MAGA, and...

*Vote with my lady parts.

*SMIRK*

Of course.

The GOP fears EVERYTHING.

The Dems would be plotting vengeance and defending their candidate.

They believe in two steps forward and one step backwards.

The GOP believes in ONE step forward and TWO steps backwards.

I hate the GOP. If there was another viable opposition party, I would join them in a heartbeat.

If every male Republican candidate is accused of rape 6 weeks before the election and every females candidate is accused of "she called me nigga 40 years ago" there may be big losses.

The Rats have stumbled upon a very clever strategy which started with "Romney paid no taxes" and is now "he raped me".

We just might be in the early states of Banana Republic Time here in the US of A!

For all his faults, George Wallace was right when he said there’s not a dimes worth of difference between the Republicans and Democrats. Now Trump has tried to change things but has been stonewalled by establishment Republicans who would rather have been the minority party under Hillary than the majority party under Trump. They will try to blame election losses on Trump, but conservatives know the truth, the RINOs betrayed the will of the people.

Why should we vote? In Congressional races, anyway.

Will they be OK being replaced by democrats ?

Themselves? No. The way they figure it, the best times were the 70s when the Republicans were the go along get along permanent minority with safe seats, and plenty of hookers and pork to keep them quiet and obedient to their RAT masters. Mitch and Ryan and their leadership lackeys would stay in place, but drop the party into minority by jettisoning as many as conservatives as possible such as Mike Lee, Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Louie Gohmert, Mark Meadows, and Steve King.

I won't be surprised now that the Senate is heading toward 50-50 to see them propose power sharing again and also to really find a way now to derail tax reform, two things which would go a long way toward returning to minority status.

Exactly.

Nothing succeeds like success and the ONLY way to prevent that would be to SUE the damn *itches who pulled this for defamation and Gloria Allred for legal malpractice.

But THAT would require gonads and I doubt the entire GOPe has two to make a complete set among the entire lot.

If the GOP would f’ing do the things they f’ing promised they would have nothing to worry about.

Almost one year into historic majorities in Congress and nothing to show for it.

Has any party ever been more deserving of getting their asses kicked?

What have they done?
I know it will get worse if the Democrats win, but the GOP has worked overtime to alienate it’s base and independents who rallied to Trump.

now THAT is true. I just posted the same point on another thread, but once Strange outpolled Brooks to get into the runoff, the sane move was to admit defeat and vote for the guy who would have been a 100% reliable Republican vote and would have won the election by 25pp, and not Judge Moore.

Republicans run a bunch more pedophiles

YOU LIE. Roy Moore is NOT a pedophile. So, you agree with the Democrats?

I think I'm going to have to leave this forum. Christian conservatives are no longer welcome here, apparently. Anything the media says about any Christian conservative is believed.

The party of the sitting president loses seats in mid-terms. That’s how it works, unless the other side really screws it up (1998, 2002). The good news for the GOP is this Senate class doesn’t have any seats for them to lose. The House on the other hand... and the state levels. We have very predictable results in this country, and mid-term loses are in that cycle.
