Dang... good for you! Good shopping, Alas. I swear the basement chest freezer has “paid” for itself over and over. I’m hoping turkeys are cheaper for Christmas... we all like turkey in the summer ( I guess since we haven’t had it since the Winter?).

The only thing taxes ever do is enrich the government doing the taxing.

I guess my call on this is the same agenda 21 movement to shut down hunting, farming, ranching, etc.

And that's why we have a predator overload in process, as well. Kill all the wolves.

Up here we will do fine on venison and elk.

My thoughts exactly. Meat is already up in price over the last years that I am shocked by how high it is to buy any kind of meat. Bacon, hamburger, steak, etc prices are through the roof.

Hamburger is even HIGH. I try to buy the 80/20 since there isn’t too much fat drained away but all of it is higher than last year in our area. I’ve got to thank my Mom who could “stretch” meals, especially meat. Buy one large roast and I can stretch it to two or three good sized family meals. It is getting much more difficult though...

What makes it even worse is when I see people with food stamps buying things I can’t afford. It makes me want to strangle someone. It is ridiculous for a food stamp recipient to be able to buy whatever they want. It is not a secret to know that the poor don’t work because they have better lives then the middle class who work in many cases.

Yep. I grit my jaw so tightly at times (at the check out counter) that it hurts. Here I am with coupons, a detailed list, sale items, Suave shampoo, off brand this and that... and yes..I see steak and seafood in another cart. I can predict the “Independence” card being whipped out.

So frustrating. I was behind this person with 4 carts, I kid you not.....full of good food and about 3/4ths of the way done, the women sent out her daughter to get her mother because she needed to use her food stamp card because she got too much food and didn’t have enough money on her card. Not only did I have to wait for this mother, but they bought well over 600 dollars worth of food. Oops....we bought them over 600 dollars worth of food. And not one bit of this post is a lie or an exaggeration.

“... not one bit of this post is a lie or an exaggeration”.

I’ve seen it too, N. I will say this: the other people around me will sort of place at each other. You know the “glance”... a sort of non verbal communication stating, “Do you see and believe this?” The best part is if you are on your way out and see them get into a better and newer vehicle than you!

“Note: thighs and legs meaning CHICKEN thighs and legs. Didn’t want anyone thinking we turned to cannibalism. :)”

Unless you’re talking about draft dodger Bill Clinton. With him, chicken is appropriate.

I’ve noticed the same thing about meat prices here in FL as well. They have definitely gone up recently.

Sugar is taxed? I thought it was subsidized. If they mean "sugary" drinks, the great majority of those are HFCS...

If they tax my steak, can I tax the tickets to their movies?

Newer cars than most of us have—jewelry I NEVER had-—manicures I NEVER had—Hairdos I don’t have.

All those welfare recipients live far better than most of the taxpayers supporting them.

Well Duh! I’ve been saying for years that the enviro war on meat is a keystone of the collectivists work to destroy the west. It can be hit from their end from any number of angles, wealth inequality, environmental, unfairness to other countries, control of populations, medical racket, etc...

If you want to turn a nation of strong independent innovators into serfs, diet is a prime place to start.
