Chris Matthews, EIB Guest Host?

Mar 14, 2008

RUSH: This is Dean in Beulah, Iowa. Am I pronouncing that right?

CALLER: Yes, you are.

RUSH: Thank you, sir. Welcome to the program.

CALLER: Thank you. Mega dittos, Rush. Hey, I was just wondering, I’ve been a fan of the show for a long time, and has Chris Matthews ever guest hosted your show?

RUSH: Yes, he has.

CALLER: And why did you do that.

RUSH: Well, you know, there was a time that… Help me out on this, Snerdley. It was the mid-nineties, right?

CALLER: Yeah, at least that long ago. It’s been a long time, way before he ever came out as being more liberal. You know, for a time there he was almost conservative.

RUSH: Well, in part. But when we put him on as a guest host we knew that he wasn’t full-fledged conservative, but we did it just as a change of pace.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: But back then, he and I had a good relationship. I was going on his show, and he was calling in to my show, and we had a good relationship back then, but I stopped being invited to go on his show. Maybe it’s I stopped accepting invitations. I don’t know which. But clearly now, that network now is the house organ for the Democrat National Committee.

CALLER: Yeah. I think I remember that show he was on, and it was pretty good, if I remember right, but (laughs).

RUSH: I didn’t hear it. I never listen when I’m not here, obviously. If I could listen, I would be here to do the show. So I didn’t hear it. I’m trying to remember. My memory is, we had some people complain.

Belling is ok, a little verbose and has that Minnesota twang. Matthews is good, young and energetic, but also strays from the topic for too long. Steyn is great nut has a tendency to get bogged down on a tangent for too long. Everybody is different but all go up against and are judged against Rush. Tough act to follow.

Rove has NO fans on FR, unless someone here is suffering from dementia.

I think Matthews was a different man when his father was still alive.

I figure....Matthews is like a lot of people in the MSM...they say what they think keeps the money rolling in.

Maybe I’m not old enough to remember that time...I know that Ann Coulter dated this deranged nut, to her everlasting shame.

Walter Williams was the economics professor I wish I had in college.

No sub-host was EVER as bad as Helen Morphonias.

Not only was she a liberal, she was stupid and rude.

Walter was the Bomb but I just loves me some Mark Steyn!
He is one funny, quick witted SOB. His whole schtick on the Weguns made me laugh so hard I had to pull to the side of the road!

"My favorite guest host for Rush was Dr. Walter Williams. He was great!"

Yup. I like Mark Steyn too.

I remember Mary Matalin guest hosting the show. I remember thinking she was very good. But she never came back. Who knows if I would like her now or not, but in the moment I thought she was terrific

At one time, Chris Matthews was somewhat of a moderate.

Chris Matthews admitted that he voted for George Bush in 2000. Then MSNBC starting to pay him big paychecks and he turned left.........at least on his show.

I remember Matthews subbing for Rush, too.

He made it clear that he was *not* a conservative.

Just that we are all Americans, and that is OK.

He talked a bit about his love of hunting and his support of the second amendment IIRC.

I ended up enjoying him filling in, I think he did a good job at making it an interesting show.

I feel sorry for Matthews now.

Something pathological has happened to his brain. Drugs? Alcohol? Liberalism?

But it is NOT good.

Except for his closing statement on that particular broadcast. Anyone who heard that show should remember what Matthews did. You knew he would never guest host the show again after that.

I remember Chrissie’s guest-hosting show. I called it “Excrement In Broadcasting”.

I recall Keith Olbermann on Alex Jones for a while too.

Now Keith has always been a disgusting, worthless worm but the light was cast right to make him not so much of a vile ****bag.

I remember Matthews guest hosting. Steyn is the only one I’ll listen to these days.

He absolutely despised Bill Clinton. We was never not a liberal, just a liberal-hating Clinton.
