The recognition by the US of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel is “an obstacle to a fair and lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians based on a negotiated two-state solution”, the Swiss government said.

Reacting to US President Donald Trump’s announcement on Wednesday, the Swiss foreign office said any solution in the Middle East must be based on “a comprehensive negotiated agreement on the final status of Jerusalem that respects the rights and aspirations of all interested parties”.

“Switzerland does not recognize the authority of Israel beyond the 1967 borders and will work towards the establishment of a viable, contiguous and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as capital and based on the 1967 borders,” the Swiss government said. …

Good points all. 100 years of ‘progressivism’ has been a disaster for the entire planet.

The “Palestinians” are Arabs who were brought to the region by the Ottoman empire as part of the Muslim occupation in the region. They are definitely not the tribes from Crete who settled down in the 5 cities of Gaza strip after the Exodus of Israel from Egypt. These tribes were called Philistines and they weren’t Arabs at all and today’s “Palestinians” are definitely not their descendants. The Philistines don’t exist as a nation.

As long as you don’t get some of those soft-headed Israeli leaders to sign on to a suicide pact, Israel will do ok.

I agree with your take on that, not likely.

Palestine will not agree to peace with Israel. It will only accept the absolute destruction of the Jewish state.

That is a very easy statement for the Swiss to utter.

hum...Switzerland, eh?
the same pretty little country that always bragged about how it was open to refugees in need, but .... while it took several thousand fleeing Hitler, it still...
1. turned away thousands more Jewish refugees in particular, among more, even after KNOWING about Hitler’s death camps
2. imprisioned many of the Jews that did get in, putting them in unheated rooms to sleep on floors or straw, and impressing them into forced labor (work camps)
3. oh yes, Switzerland appears to have been the originator of the “Jewish markings” policy in Hitler’s Germany. The Swiss asked Hitler to mark all Jews’ passports with a nice big letter J.... which Switzerland then could use to identify them at the entry borders.. .and turn them back to Hitler’s Germany. The J’s started on the victims’ passports at least as early as 1938 ...
It hardly seems necessary for Jerusalem to pay much mind to the outdated comments from Switzerland.

Israel has been given no choice but to be on the ready with their army.

The Jews have a tiny piece of land, surrounded by their enemies and those enemies want that tiny piece of land. Does the world community ask why that piece of land is and will be the center of attention, and why does the enemy in that region want it when they have all the land around Israel...why do they have to have that tiny piece also?

Because Jerusalem is in that tiny piece of land. And the wall is in that land. And the temple mount is in that land. And they know for Biblical reasons they want that tiny piece of land in their possession. And Jesus is coming back to that land .. the Ishmaelites believe they can have it their way and prevent that Kingdom, and have theirs. A huge lie that has brought wars and more wars over who are the heirs and who are not.

For anyone to think they can work a piece there, it ain’t gonna’ happen. Israel will have their army and their wall and their settlements. Israel is not the aggressor.. they would co exist... the palestinian leaders will never co exist with the Jews.

I know its hard to post on FR while you are high on meth but I see you are trying it anyway.

I repeat: the Fakestinians are the obstacle to peace in this scenario. Remove them from the equation and there would be peace. Its called a philosophical observation not a nuke them from orbit war cry.

Take nap and drink some hot chocolate. :-)

There is only one obstacle to peace, the existence of Israel as a Jewish state.

ps: also, while Switerland was happy to accept fund deposits from Jews caught in Hitler’s Germany or Nazi-occupied nations, after the war Sz was NOT happy to return much of those ‘refugee funds’....the Swiss kept much of the money even when survivors or heirs asked for their money back.

In short, Switzerland’s conduct led to it keeping millions of marks, dollars of money that some of the innocent victims of the German Nazis managed to get into ‘safe Swiss accounts’...
thus, profiting by, in effect, stealing the victims’ money

While it is true about the nazi gold, making it to Switzerland saved a lot of Jews in WWII

It’s not Trump’s policy. It’s US policy that the previous three presidents were too cowardly to implement. And if it’s an obstacle to peace, why did our congress support it?

They hated that policy versus being too cowardly to implement it. Obama really showed that hatred with his abstinence over that vile UN resolution.

The Swiss may have been counting on making a fortune off a new Holocaust, just as they profited from the first one. Thanks Olog-hai.
