Free agent pro quarterback Colin Kaepernick received Sports Illustrated's Muhammad Ali Legacy Award on Tuesday, cementing the jobless athletes new role as a civil rights icon.
After receiving the honor, Kaepernick promised that "with or without the NFL's platform, I will continue to work for the people.
"I accept this award not for myself, but on behalf of the people," Kaepernick said. "If it were not for my love of the people, I would not have protested."
Singer Beyoncé, who presented the award, said she was "proud and humbled" by the experience.
"Colin took action with no fear of consequence or repercussion," Beyoncé said. "Only hope to change the world for the better. To change perception, to change the way we treat each other. Especially people of color."

How brave of them.
Perhaps now he can afford a haircut......................
Muhammed Ali’s legacy?
Yeah, that’s Kaepernick.
After visiting Africa — “I’m sure glad my granddaddy got on that boat!” — Muhammad Ali
“FU America!” — Colin Kaepernick
The sterotypes in the media are everywhere....
So one anti-American gets an award named for another anti-American...seems about right, I guess.
Thats just nasty.
Krappydick may be a hard core communist, but don’t call him a filthy draft dodger too.
Both moslems...
They never mention that what got Kaepernick all wound up was the Ferguson lie, something that never happened.
Because of this, I intend to browse through the pages of a different magazine on the bookshelves next February.
Shouldn’t he give himself a muzzie name, then become good enough to actually play football again, in order to qualify?
They call that being “woke”. He woke, sho nuff.
kap for prez 2020!
Didn’t even know Sports Illustrated was still being published.

For the swimsuit issue. Otherwise, they’d be as relevant as Life Magazine.

I’m just axing questions. Nothing wrong with axing questions.
Is that a Degenerative Brain Injury Award?
“Free agent pro quarterback Colin Kaepernick”
The need to let this description go. He’s “retired”. He can go to Arena football, or Canada, but his NFL career is OVER.
I wonder how much he could get for that award on EBay?
Last time I will subscribe to Sports Illustrated.
