Opposition research must have started as soon as, if not before, Donald Trump announced he was running for president. I am sure many of Trump's Republican opponents, as well as Hillary Clinton, the DNC, liberal interest groups, the media, and others were searching far and wide for trash on Trump.
The research must not have produced enough trash, or else why would the DNC and Hillary have paid Fusion GPS so handsomely to create what is clearly a false document? Fusion GPS trafficked the document to the Justice Department and intelligence officials. They obviously had seen how many intelligence officials had been willing to lie, especially James Clapper and John Brennan, and had seen how the Justice Department had protected the Obama Administration and especially Hillary and her aides no matter what they did. It was obvious that they were not "independent."
The Justice Department and intelligence officials in turn used the fake dossier to justify spying on Trump officials and to open an investigation on supposed Russian collusion. Of course this was fake also because if they would have ever been concerned about Russian collusion they would have also investigated and spied on Hillary. But they didn't.

I think he’s that squeaky clean. Since there is a rot in their own souls that makes everything they do corrupt, they just assume that everyone is like them. So, they do the “fake, but accurate” kind of reporting. They are saying, “if we could have found something, we believe it would look like this”.
Since they are that corrupt, they can’t see the problem with doing this sort of thing.
Plus to cover up their recent sex abuse scandals.
Very good question. I had my own answer, that is why I voted for President Trump and will so again in 2020. I am not tired of winning yet.

The article mentioned Clapper and Brennan, but not Ben Rhodes. There is a long list of people involved in this.
The embers are still live, they need to be fanned with a little fresh air and exposed to allow daylight disinfectant to take hold.

I think Trump led them down the Katie Johnson bunny trail knowing they’d bite hard and it would destroy what rationality they had in their bloodlust. When that blew up in late Oct. they had to scramble to put plan B in operation.
The One World Communist New World Order knows that Trump can destroy in 4-8 years what they have worked for 75 years to do, ENSLAVE AMERICA.
THEY MUST DESTROY HIM THEN US.
Ny thoughts: The attack was two-fold.
First and foremost, there was a very good chance the dems would be investigated for their misdeeds once the White House was out of their control. Typically, they accuse the other side of doing what they are about to be outed as doing. This is powerful as it muddies the waters and always gives them the talking point of, ‘See! Everyone does it!’ REgardless of the untruth of it.
Secondly, this boondoggle investigation sucks all the oxygen out of the air and leaves no chance to get any productive change to happen in congress or in the field of open debate.
Only answer, as as been said, is to drain the swamp and start all over, ASAP.

They created the Steele dossier to obtain a warrant from a FISA court to spy on Trump & company. This is what our government does of late.
Hillary started the birther movement against Obama then passed what they had to other people so they remained above reproach.
The Trump dossier was in the same vein of opposition attack aimed at causing doubt and destabilizing his candidacy. When Trump won they kept it up to dampen his "honeymoon" momentum and the RINO's were too only happy to play along.
Because they knew the press will validate their fraud. Do we remember the absurd reason we call democrats “rats”?

I think that’s probably true. Considering all of his business interests, he probably was well aware of how a moral “mis-step” could put everything at risk.
Attractive powerful men DO harass, but those would be the stupid ones who don’t consider the possible consequences.
And they do it well.
