Gerard Araud tweeted Thursday afternoon that “In this Pearl Harbor day, we should remember that the US refused to side with France and the UK to confront the fascist powers in the 30s.”

Mr. Araud deleted the tweet within a few minutes, though not before it had been screen-captured.

“How many French men does it take to defend Paris?”

“I don’t know. It’s never been tried!”

I wish that I knew more about my family history.

What I do know is that my great grandfather on my mother's side owned a Buick garage in Horton's Bay on Lake Charlevoix in northern Michigan that was frequented by Ernest Hemmingway. We only discovered that from recollections of my uncle who during the 1950's, chartered a sail boat in Cuba and met Hemmingway in a bar.

Why are the streets of Paris lined with trees? Because Germans like marching in the shade!

When I think of all the blood we shed for these pigs it makes me wanna puke!

DJT should direct the French government to recall their ambassador.

I think it was Jodl at his Nuremberg trial who said he was scared to death that the French would move a single division into the Rhineland and crush their attempted militarization.

They sat on the side lines and ate cheese and drank WINE.
Then when the Krauts turned around and bit them on the ass, the only thing they had left was the WHINE!

America had to save France because France was too weak to stay free.

They also had better fighter planes.

The German Bf-109e was the best fighter in the world in 1940.

The French air force had hapless types like Bloch MB.150, the prototype couldn't even get off the ground.

The M.S. 406 was 50mph slower than the 109

They had some American P-36's but again, they were no match for the 109.

To make things worse, most French fighters had no radios.

They weren’t fighting the war themselves til after invasion of France in 1940. What did they do about Czech and Austrian invasions of 1938?

I swear! Even today Western European countries act like spoiled little children who run around doing whatever they want and then turn to the United States when they get themselves into trouble. They then accept no responsibility for their actions and blame us.

Western Europe is pathetic.

We saved France twice in two wars when she was invaded and they've nothing but cr@p'd on her rescuers - not only that, France turns over her hero's to the enemy then makes saints out of them. Jeanne D'Arc comes to mind first.

How can you govern a country which has two hundred and forty-six varieties of cheese?
Comment voulez-vous gouverner un pays qui a deux cent quarante-six variétés de fromage?
