Why does San Francisco, a hub for technological innovation, struggle to educate its black students?

Recently, a girl got beat up by a boy right here in my classroom. All she said was, Yo Mama, but that boys mama had been shot in the face, so it triggered him. He punched her in the head and chest 15 times.
Just not your average day at your average school. The thug culture is glorified in movies, music and the neighborhood. You reap what you sow.
I’m pretty sure this is all my fault.
I believe it our public schools are a war zone
“The other day, we had eight fights in two hours”
If they scheduled those and sold tickets the school funding crisis would be solved.
Just thugs doing what they do best, but bring this up and get ready to be called a racist..after all its not their fault they are idiots, its due to slavery and stuff
Im pretty sure this is all my fault.
Trump and youre a racist.

“...struggle to educate its black students?”
Education for what?
It's been that way for quite a while in the inner cities.
I went to an urban high school during the late 1970s. The era of "Welcome Back Kotter." Only the sweathogs in my school were not that nice. It was a literal war zone and the teachers were just looking to survive. I spent many days after school in the library for about an hour so that the punks could clear the area and I could walk home safely. I never took the bus - another war zone.
The suburban schools are mostly safe. I made sure I moved to a suburb with a nice school system when I had kids so that they would not have the same experience. But if you can afford to send your kids to private school, by all means do it.
Start enforcing stiff rules.
Let the kids know that if they do something like this, it may cost them their freedom for decades.
We let these kids get away with too much, and wonder why they do what they do.
Just stop letting them do it. End of story.
“Hey you nimrods, hurt feelings don’t give you a license to hurt others. You reaction will give us license to incarcerate your ass for a long long time. Think, control yourself, or we will!”
There are no consequences for kids behavior in school.
The teacher’s unions and Administrations are too concerned with missing out on Federal matching dollars in the event the kid’s butt isn’t in the seat due to suspension or expulsion.
bump.
Because Sodom Francisco excludes God.
why? Why?
You know why...
Just throw more and more money into schools, and hey, don’t punish the kids because....slavery...and they are all good kids and on their way to ‘ cah-leje’
My favorite political cartoon shows an older couple walking past a building with a sign out front reading “Racism Awareness Center”. The man says, “I remember when they were called schools.”
Much of what is taught is false and counter-productive.
Feral youth with no civilization, crammed together in schools that have more security than some prisons. What a lousy excuse for an education. We should weep for the minority of students who want to learn and have a clue that it’s important to know how to read, write and run your laptop.
Perhaps someday we will realize that not everyone possesses the potential to absorb learning.
There are some that should be given the basics of reading and writing and math. They should at least be able to sign their name and count to 10 or 20, and perhaps do simple additions.
But the question is, what do you do with a 10 year old who has maxed out on his intellectual potential? It is like a coffee cup. Once the cup is full, it can take no more. And all effort to fill to more than its capacity is for naught.
The good teachers have an adversarial relationship with BOTH the administration and the union which allegedly "represents" them.
Right to work! And no (un)"Fair Share"!
I THINK WE HAVE IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM: "I have a masters degree in equity and social justice"
Been there, done that.
Ended more than a few days the same way.
Sucks to care more about some peoples lives than they do.
