The statement below is issued by Union for Reform Judaism President Rabbi Rick Jacobs on behalf of the organizations of the Reform Jewish Movement, the largest movement in Jewish life:
President Trumps ill-timed, but expected, announcement affirms what the Reform Jewish Movement has long held: that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. Yet while we share the Presidents belief that the U.S. Embassy should, at the right time, be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, we cannot support his decision to begin preparing that move now, absent a comprehensive plan for a peace process. Additionally, any relocation of the American Embassy to West Jerusalem should be conceived and executed in the broader context reflecting Jerusalems status as a city holy to Jews, Christians and Muslims alike.

You are correct. They should be set aside, alas that family tie won’t allow it. Sad actually, as they seem to be half of the reason the rest of us are blamed for ungodly behavior. The other half are people with Jewish sounding names that are not in any way observant to anything of Adonai.

President Trump made the right decision. The Arab countries are ready. They see the bigger threat of Iran. That's the way I see it as well.It seems that the conservative Arab states (Saudi,UAE,Kuwait) have quietly come to the realization that Israel isn't their enemy and that Iran is.

One estimate has only 18% of Reform Jews actually being Jewish according to Jewish law. Quite in opposition to Jewish law, which only recognizes matrilineal descent (your mother must be Jewish for you to be considered Jewish, but not your father), Reform Judaism also recognizes children born of patrilineal Jewish descent as being Jewish. So children born of a Jewish father and non-Jewish mother are counted as Jews among the Reform, but would not be considered as a marriage partner for an observant Jew unless they underwent a formal Jewish conversion. Also, they do not observe Jewish law when it comes to who one may marry, or the required rituals of Jewish divorce, resulting in many offspring of Reform Jews being considered illegitimate. In the eyes of Jewish law, Reform Jews who do not follow Jewish divorce ritual and subsequently remarry are committing bigamy.
Therefore, one cannot reliably consider any utterance of a Reform Jew to be representative of Jewry in general. They may not even be Jewish!

There will be peace only when the Prince of Peace returns. I doubt the rabbi wants to hear that.

I am a Christian and have a good number of friends who are Orthodox or otherwise traditional minded Jews. They understand and somewhat agree with my use of the term JINO.
