A Woodland mother fears her husband may be moved to Arizona and deported to Cambodia as early as this week, after an October immigration sweep that pulled 100 people off streets across the country.
Forty-three-year-old Saerang Ye was on his way home from work as a mechanical engineer when he was picked up by ICE about a block from his home.
He's been jailed at the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Facility ever since -- he and his family having little idea about what's going on with his case.
Brought to the states when he was just 6, Ye lost any protection that childhood arrival may have offered when he was convicted of mail theft and possession of stolen property in the early 2000s.
Since Cambodia doesn't cooperate with the U.S. on deportations, folks like Ye were released back into the community after jail with open-ended removal orders -- open-ended until the recent crackdown by President Donald Trump.
Rita Wages says this situation with the hard-working love of her life is tearing their family apart.
"I can't eat. I can't sleep. My son, he can't focus in school. He's crying all the time. I can't explain it to him cause I don't know," said Wages.
She says her husband is an amazing father to their blended family of six and that what's been done to someone who's turned their life around and helped her do the same is inhumane.
He should have came in through the front door, instead of trying to sneek in through the back door.
Spare me the sob story. Deport his ass.

“Is your husband an illegal who ALSO committed other crimes?”
“If yes, then he needs to be deported.”
Just think of how he could help his country rebuild.. maybe he could help make the postal service a better organization by using his talents there instead of here to rip people off..
So because Cambodia won’t take him is why he’s still here or else he would be gone for the past 16 years. If our prior leadership would have said no matter if you want him back or not we’re sending him this never happens.

Are you kidding? WE need mechanical engineers. Woodland
is a BIG TIME farming community near the banks of the
Sacramento River. The chances are pretty high that this
guy works for an agriculture related business. He knows
his way around tractors and harvesters. If the guy was
brought to the US when he was 6 then he was educated in
the US and it wasnt cheap. If he was in his home country
and applied to move to the US he would be put at the front
of the line. So we send him to Cambodia and take his
job away while he jumps through the hoops to get back?

conservatives to show that we are practical and
compassionate.
I wonder if he thought about the consequences of his actions when he acted criminally. Sometimes life is just not fair. He is a young man but mature enough to establish himself in a new culture. This is his opportunity to begin a new life. Hope he makes the most of it.

Deport him. He spent years here, educated here, never applied for citizenship, broke the law and now we should find a way to let him stay?

The law applies to all or none. You can’t pick and choose.

I would expect a firm hiring engineers would be diligent about having an I-9 filled out. He presumably committed ID theft in addition to being here illegally.
Nice - they got in that she’s both a mother and a wife in the headline. That’s a real tearjerker.
That is one of the most irritating thing about ‘modern news.’ Way too much of it is reporting on someones emotional reaction rather than chronicling actual events.
We must acknowledge it’s a toughie. If he was an olympic athlete congress would find a way to make him an instant citizen. How long ago was his last crime.
Really. Any ‘desirability’ he may have had is rendered moot by his illegal presence. Cambodia needs engineers also.
If congress would bend the laws for someone just because he or she is an athlete or celebrity then the shame would fall on them.
Its not like he’s being sent to jail for life or anything. He is merely being returned to his homeland. I assume he can take his family, education and liquid assets with him.
Where do you get that? If what you say is true then
why do we have courts? If we can pick and choose who
comes into the country based on what they have to offer
then we sure as hell can decide who stays and who goes.
And we do and have done that sort of thing since the
beginning of the country.

Serious charges, but I would need more information as to what he actually did to form an opinion as to what damage he was he has done.

Unless Cambodia reverses their cooperation I do not see much that President Trump can do.
Why does his wife not have his surname? Do his children have his surname? Never clicked on the link to see if any of these questions were answered because way too often with reporters anymore they do a terrible job reporting the facts to help anyone form an opinion based on facts rather than just emotions. Which I assume this article is replete with emotional arguments, based upon the headline.
