You sound like my wife, and I’m better than the average guy after our last earthquake.

We have a close friend, who now lives in Floriduh. They have go bags and stuff ready at anytime and never let a vehicle get below a half tank of gas due to hurricanes and possible fires.

He recently before our fire, via texting, checking out our go bags and other stuff.

He asked if we had a safety deposit box at a local bank.

His next question was if your house burns and that key gets melted, how are you going to access that box with the serious id requirements at banks now to get into one of their safety deposit boxes?

His suggestion was to have your own little so called strong box in a tote or beach bag ready to go and to put your safety deposit key in that little strong box to take with you.

A couple of years ago he suggested having our photos on Google Photos and Amazon Prime. So we have most of our photos saved in their clouds.

He also suggested a video walk by of the outside our home and a good video inside re art and other valuables. Again, that is stored on the Google and Amazon clouds.

“More UPDATE #ThomasFire: Tucson Sector Border Patrol has a group detained that possibly started the fire. #azfire
From twitter!

We have had the same yard care man for about 3 decades. He and his large family are all citizens and good people.

He and his clan felt that our fires north of Gay Frisco were started by the Mexican mafia. He said that there was evidence of arson fires set in S. California earlier this year and last year.

“There is a strong smell of fire outside in Chino California but that is nowhere near these major fires. I’m finding no information on what could be the cause of it.”

When we had the fires in the North Bay north of Gay Frisco, Gay Frisco had worse smoke than we did.

One of our neighbors have a smaller place in Gay Frisco to avoid the commute to work during the week. The husband drove to our area to see and protect their home here. He told his wife to come up here to get away from the smoke down there.

She did. She, said we still had smoke up here for about a week, however, it was not as bad in Gay Frisco.

From Ventura, Castaic is an easy hitch out the 126, and up I-5 a bit.

I’m immediately suspicious of the cause of this one.

Reminds me of the fires up north..they said it might have been caused by illegals but they never revealed the source..with the high winds today fire starters would know if you are gonna start a fire today is the day to do it

We are between the fires. The entire house inside smells like we are inside a bbq grill. One of my kids schools lost power and cancelled all classes. Both my kids schools are closer to the fires than we are at home.

The winds this morning were unbelievably powerful and freezing. I was in my down coat and hood up.

So much for too cold for a serious fire. It was not terribly warm during the Sonoma COunty fires either.

Now why would they start fires in CA when that is a sanctuary state? Makes no sense to me.

Simi Valley was not threatened by the Thomas Fire but the Creek Fire will come to Simi Valley.
When the Santa Ana Winds are blowing and there is a fire in Sylmar it will come thru Simi Valley on its way to the beach. Winds are from the Northeast and if you look at a map, you can see the hills between the San Fernando Valley and Simi Valley. Often times the fire will split and go thru those hills south towards Malibu. But the fire will continue West thru the hills north of Simi Valley. The fire will often split again and go thru the hills west of Simi which is where the Reagan Library is.

If you look at a map, the beach is due south and due west of Simi Valley. With winds out of the northeast, the fire heads southwest.

These fires happen every year from dry brush, heat and wind.

My family was okay last night. This morning one was evacuated ... now a house has burned down across the street.

More relatives have been evacuated today.

Galena Ave is the near center of town (Simi).
Part of Galena Ave is north of the 118 fwy.
The north end of Galena is about 1 1/2 miles from foothills. Lots of house between them and the hills. I don’t think any house on Galena will be near the fire.
I’ve worried in the past that a fire will hop scotch
across town (because of the winds) but it’s has not since I’ve lived here. Been in the area since 73.

I think I have seen street signs with Galena spelled with an “i” but the maps are spelling it with an “e”.
