So why did Flynn lie?
American Thinker ^ | 12/04/2017 | Monica Showalter

Much has been made of why Special Counsel Robert Mueller prosecuted former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who lied to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  But what about the lie itself, which President Trump has noted on Twitter was a pretty useless lie?

I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 2, 2017

The conventional wisdom, as UCLA law professor Harry Litman lays out, is that Flynn "knew" that talking with the Russians, or rather, "negotiating" with them, as he extends the term, was "wrong and inimical to U.S. interests."  I notice he doesn't use the word "illegal," and from a law professor, that's significant.  Just "wrong."

As Jack Posobiec has found, it was actually all right.

I think Flynn lied because he was afraid.  And he was afraid because he's a Washington swamp creature, even if a Trump-friendly one.

In the Washington swamp culture, nothing is worse than talking to a Russian.

Russia is our worst enemy, supposedly, and great amounts of spydom and security clearances hinge on keeping Russia as big an enemy as possible.  More enemy, more government funds for the bureaucracies that hunt Russian spies.  And more specifically, talk to a Russian, lose your security clearance.

Maybe he just lied because he figured it was none of the FBI's business.

Or maybe he just lies reflexively.

Or maybe he lied because he knew he was compromised over other shady dealings with foreign countries like Turkey.

Or, like Scooter Libby, he could have simply had not the best memory of what was discussed in which discussion and with whom. It easy to conflate or mix up things at times. At least he didn’t try to weasel out by saying “I don’t remember” in 57 different ways as the Clintons & ‘RATS do.

Maybe it was because the press was making anything such as the use of Russian salad dressing seem like Putin got Trump elected.

Politicians lie. DC lies. MSM lies.

Perhaps he’s an habitual liar who can’t tell the truth to save his life. We all know someone who will swear the sun rises in the west and tells all sorts of lies when there’s no reason to.

I jus read a newsletter claiming Flynn was on Vacation in the Dominican Republic when he talked to Krislyak. He took no notes and relied on his imperfect memory 4 days after Trump took office when he was interviewed by the FBI. Sally Gates, Obama holdover wanted to prosecute him over the Logan Act which is why Flynn’s conversation was being recorded with Russian Ambassador Krislyak. Obama holdovers making Trump’s transition as difficult as possible at a time when there were protests on the street wanting to youst President Trump. I hate these people!

To be honest. Dealing with Russian leaders - especially at that level, even though Flynn may not have done anything wrong initially, puts one in cheat and lie mode. That’s why it’s better not to get involved with them at all. The cheat and lie atmosphere will inevitably be fostered. From my observations of being in the country. (I didn’t deal with leaders, but unfortunately corruption/bribery/pressure are considered normal facts of life in most every level of society.)

His lawyer wasn’t present. If that’s true, not very smart.

And that’s the more likely answer.

Obama and his people are thugs like the Clintons.

Remember when the Clinton people trashed the White House as GW Bush was coming in?

That’s who they are. Human garbage who would just as soon wreck people and property when they don’t get their way.

These are the nastiest bunch of grifters, extorionists, deadbeats and outright thieves that you’ve ever met. They gravitate to government because it’s a legal way to live on other people’s backs: they love that since they’re lazy and arrogant.

The 'Flynn lied' narrative is all cover for this true allegiance, the Deep State. From day one Flynn set out to ENTRAP TRUMP on behalf of the Deep State.

If it's true Flynn tried to arrange a kidnapping for Turkish officials, he's a Deep State scumbag.

Don't be fooled by Flynn being in trouble. This is all COVER for him being a Deep State TOOL since the get go. Good thing TRUMP FIRED HIM, otherwise he might've found other ways to ENTRAP TRUMP.

The problem is that Flynn and Monford both have business dealings with Russia, Turkey, etc. Trump failed on his early commitment not to have lobbyists and foreign agents involved in his campaign and administration. These people, even his son-in-law, or bad news in trouble waiting to happen.

great question.

That said, this article makes Flynn look naive in all this, almost virginal.
Fat chance. This aint his first rodeo. He's been at this stuff for a long time.

better question is: How does the FBI know he lied ?

Below was originally reported (From CNN) 02/15/2017. I couldn't find the FBI source for this.

"The FBI is saying that barring new information, they're not going to pursue charges against him. They add that in their conversations with him that he was forthcoming. He did not hide the truth. They say that if he forgot certain details of things he was not intentionally misleading. So if they don't learn anything new they're not going to pursue charges.”

What changed ?

Something else is going on.
