Mueller Investigation: Politics, Not Law Enforcement or Counterintelligence
National Review ^ | December 2,2017 | Andrew C. McCarthy

Posted on 12/02/2017 7:58:32 AM PST by Hojczyk

The end game is the removal of Trump, either by impeachment or by publicly discrediting him and making his reelection politically impossible.

Here’s what I’d be tempted to do if I were President Trump: I’d direct the Justice Department to appoint a special counsel to investigate Iran’s efforts to acquire nuclear weapons, including any Obama-administration collusion in that enterprise.

I would make sure to call it a “counterintelligence investigation,” putting no limitations on the special counsel — just as with the investigation that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has been unleashed to conduct into Trump “collusion” with Russia. That is, I would not restrict the prosecutor and investigators to digging for specified criminal violations. Or, indeed, any criminal violations. I’d just tell the special counsel, “Have at it” — with unbound authority to scrutinize the negotiations surrounding the eventual Iran nuclear deal (the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action).

Would I really expect the special counsel to find that Obama officials conspired with the mullahs to obtain nukes for Tehran? No . . . but hey, as the “Trump collusion with Russia” crowd says, “You never know.” Meantime, under the guise of investigating this highly unlikely “collusion,”

I’d want the special counsel to scrutinize closely any variances between what Obama-administration officials were telling Congress and the public about the negotiations and what they were telling the Iranians; to probe any side deals the administration agreed to but failed to disclose to Congress; and to consider whether any laws or policies were violated in such matters as President Obama’s payment of a cash ransom in exchange for American hostages held by Iran.

If Mueller is secretly working with Trump and Sessions to get the Democrats as you suggest, he is going about it in a very odd way - hiring only left wing fanatics who contributed to Hillary Clinton??

I actually do think there was criminal collusion between Obama, his subordinates, and the Iranian regime which went in opposition to American interests. I would like to see such an investigation aimed at uncovering it. We do know that Obama lied, all the time. He almost never opened his mouth without saying something that was a lie, from “if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor” to “obviously, the police acted stupidly.” The problem would be limiting the investigation to just whatever it takes to send him to prison. Otherwise, it would never stop. Eight years is a lot of lies.

Why would anyone keep a list of people who was hoping for a good outcome? To rub their noses in it if it turns out bad? That wouldn’t be very nice.

I am certainly NOT a Mueller supporter and detest his, what I consider, at witch-hunt. A group with a target looking for a crime and willing to make one up if need be. That is what I believe. However, I was/do hope for good to overcome evil. I see Mueller and his buddy Comey (and Rosenstein, Cabe, etc) as pure swamp creatures.

But YES, I HOPE and Pray those who on here said they believe it is a setup to drain the swamp instead it correct. DO I see it anywhere? No. But those who is wanting it to be, or may even have information not privy to others of us, or just hoping it turns out to be a sting on the swamp, I certainly don’t think being harsh on them if this turns out differently would be Christian, kind, or dare I say responsible.

I didn’t want to use any words that are insulting, because that is what I am talking against. We as Freepers, need to be kinder to each other. We are supposed to be on the same side. Even though some here are clearly not on our side. We want to easily be able to tell them apart from those who are all on the same side.

In the new order of things, policy differences are the grist for investigation and prosecution.

French Revolution, Bolshevik Revolution, Nazis -- this is how the Left plays the game. Your politics differ from my politics? Well, time for you to die.

And the second thing Trump should do is demand Sessions fire Rosenstein, appoint a reliable No. 2 man and then hand in his resignation, thereby giving the AG role to the new second in command.

Sessions is a coward and solely responsible for this mess.

Yes. But DJT is partially responsible for this farce by permitting it to go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and—

Just research your past comments. You’ll probably find some there.

I predict the President will fire Sessions shortly after the tax bill passes. He needs a big win first then he will have the wiggle room to replace Sessions.

I’m sure there is plenty of criminal collusion out there involving Obama & his subordinates on many matters including the Iranian regime ..... because they were certain Hilly would win and anything illegal would never see the light of day. They got bold and careless ... saw recently where Hilly’s campaign also broke various laws, never expecting an outcome other than a Hillary win and thus no accountability. Maybe a Special Prosecutor as McCarthy suggests to start looking at all of this stuff would finally result in some treasonous cockroaches getting exposed/stepped on.

When Comey colluded to remove documents from his FBI-issued laptop, colluded with a friend in academia who colluded with a newspaper reporter in order to collude and compel the DoJ to name a special counsel who was a friend of Comey, was THAT collusion?

The Left has destroyed, via lawfare, the lives of many Republicans. Until we respond in kind, and financially ruin some rat families, things will only get worse until registering GOP will be seen as something near to a criminal act.
