A Florida police officer was taking his 14-year-old child to school in March 2016 when he spotted a reckless driver.
Though he wasnt on duty, the undercover Jacksonville, Fla. officer tried to pull over Kevin Rojas, who was then 19, the Associated Press reports.
Thats when Rojas got out of his white Cadillac and started shooting at the officer, police said. The officer was sporting a ballistic vest that said police on it at the time, WLTV reports.
Rojas shots missed the officers son, AP reports, but ended up hitting the officer three times, according to police. The officer shot back, but Rojas fled the scene by stealing another vehicle, and then barricaded himself in a house. Other officers pursued him, and shot Rojas three times before he was apprehended.

Mr. Ramsbottom, enuff said.
This kid tried to kill a cop.
But I suppose in the eyes of liberals, raping someone who has attempted a cop murder, should be up for a citizen of the year award. We wouldn't want to hurt his "widdle" feelings, now would we?
I say don't give him any K-Y jelly. That will make it hurt even worse. Which is a good thing when you are in prison paying for your violent crimes.
We need to follow the rule of law.
Pushing for extra-legal punishment does not help.
I hope that you or yours never is caught up in the criminal justice system.
It is bad enough when the rules are followed.
“wadded up” is what that miscreant is sure to discover himself as being!
we need our cops to maintain their humanity, not behave like the criminals...
I agree with you....I don’t understand this wink wink about prison rape...these guys eventually get out of jail and they will be monsters...
He was shot three times.
That’s three counts of attempted murder.
This is America and we have the God given right to insult anyone we want. And insult him he did.
And he had every right to insult him, especially since his kid was in the car and could have died. Its is freedom of speech. And if I saw that criminal coming out of the courthouse I would have yelled out several other insults.
What is it with America these days? What? Offending people is not allowed?
Note that it is impossible (and unproductive) to please all people at all times. Someone will always be offended.
“Rape in prison is still rape. It should not be tolerated, let alone encouraged.”
Clearly, you are quite Superior to the rest of us. On judgement day you will be richly rewarded. Until then, good luck.
And what the hale is "extra-legal punishment"? I don't even know what that means since you just made it up.
One doesn't get "caught up" in the criminal justice system like a cold you "caught" from a co-worker. You have to commit a crime, like trying to murder a cop.
Whatever else happens in prison has nothing to do with the legal system. It has to do with the reality of being in prison.
Doing time for criminal conviction is supposed to be bad by definition. It's not supposed to feel good.
What happens in prison is the responsibility of those who control the prisons. They are supposed to keep prisoners reasonably safe and free from harm by other prisoners.
All too often, the management of prisons is effectively turned over to prisoners, or the prison management effectively use some prisoners to inflict extra-legal punishment on other prisoners.
If you ever saw the movie “The Shankshaw Redemption” it is a vision of an extreme extra-legal prison system run for the benefit of the Warden and guards. It was fiction; but many real world prisons, especially in third world h@ll-holes, are run in similar fashion. Our system is supposed to be ruled by law.
Extra-legal punishment is punishment outside of the law.

Dude, it was a movie. As in fiction.

Dude, it was a movie. As in fiction.
There is a large cohort of FReepers who chime in whenever a heinous criminal goes to jail, whooping and hollering for prison rape.
Kinda makes you wonder.
Personally, I could care less about what goes on in prison. I'm 70 years old and never even came close to getting arrested....for a reason.
Because I don't want to go to prison.
Funny how that works.
Glad that worked out for you.
I have seen people go to prison who should not have. People have been held in the local jail for over six months, because of mistaken identity.
I have read, recently, of people convicted of crimes that do not exist, who spent a year and more in prison, before being freed on appeal.
Harold Fish was a retired school teacher. He spent years in prison until he was freed when the Arizona appeals court overturned his conviction, due to judicial misconduct.

Lots of people end up in prison who should not be there.
I am not.
Have a great day. Bye.
Why in the world would you object to speculation when you just used speculation in your comment in post 33 ?
Nobody seemed to have a problem with those TV shows where cops took first time criminal 'yutes' to prison to taunt them.
Thank you.
