Establishment GOP conflicted over potential Moore win
The Hill ^ | 11/21/17 06:00 AM EST | Alexander Bolton

Senior Republicans in Washington are unsure about what to do about Roy Moore now that it’s become clear that their attempts to oust him as the GOP nominee for Senate in Alabama have failed.

Some Republicans argue that it’s better for Moore to defeat Democrat Doug Jones for the sake of President Trump’s agenda, which would become imperiled if the Senate Republican majority fell from 52 seats to 51.

Others, however, contend that it’s better longer-term for the party if he doesn’t come to the Senate. They see the prospect of losing a Republican seat to be a better option than the ongoing damage to the Republican brand Moore could create if he becomes a senator. […]

Moore’s lawyer, Phillip Jauregui, circulated a memo in his capacity as president of the Judicial Action Group, noting an uptick in speculation that Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy may retire.

In her statement of support for Moore last week, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey (R) said a future vacancy on the Supreme Court was one of her top motivations. …

GOPe have been saying that for far too long and it's gotten us nowhere (them, yes. But us, no)...

Moore will owe Mitch “Rear Guard” McConnell absolutely ... nothing!

They aren’t conflicted, the GOPe and UNIPARTY has done everything they can to destroy Moore....

When you understand that the GOPe spent $30 MILLION dollars to keep Moore from winning his own party’s PRIMARY that ought to tell you something... $30 MILLION!!!!! How ludicrous is that???

When that didn’t work, suddenly he’s a predatory pedophile....

Now, don’t get me wrong, if Moore was having sex with underage girls, lock him up and throw away the key... but I don’t think for one minute that if the GOPe had proof of such allegations they would not have released them during the primary.

Moore will win, and win handily.... Not as much as should have won by thanks to this.. but he still will win handily.

All I can say is Moore better pray there is not true evidence he did this, or he will indeed be a boondoggle around the throat of the Republican party in 18.... If he is indeed guilty of this, and gets elected and evidence comes out.. it will hurt the Republicans... of course right now the Democrats are up to their necks in sexual abuse allegations as well.. but their voters don’t care... so

If Moore loses how exactly does that help Republicans? Those lovable moderates and the Hispanic vote will save them?

They’ve painted themselves in a corner, as they did with Trump. They are simply not used to fighters. He was supposed to cower when the allegations came up - as was Trump when they came up against him.

Oops.

The GOPE is nuts.

The GOPE is under the impression they're NOT employees of the United States ...NOT employees of the people who elected them... Nope, they think they're members of some elite Country Club with major financial and social perks.

The GOPE is nuts. It's time for them to get off their phony high horse and get real. We are NOT 'electing' royalty... we are not 'electing' our betters.

We elect people to represent us and speak for us ... period.

Amazing....Trump has unmasked everyone, just with his cell phone and Twitter account....absolutely amazing......

And, to further expound, everything that looks like it will doom Trump only comes back to boomerang and make him stronger out of the whole thing....also amazing

I'm in Mobile, everyone I talk to is voting for Moore.
(These are the same people who walked on broken glass to vote for Trump)

The heads of people in the swamp will explode when Moore wins.

Maybe the people of Alabama realize that even if Moore is guilty of his accusations, voting for him is not as egregious as voting for pro-abortion Democrats.

“doing damage to the Republican brand.” That horse left the barn long ago. Immediately that slapped me across the face too.
McCain hasn’t damaged the Republican brand?
McConnell hasn’t damaged the Republican brand?
Sessions hasn’t damaged the Republican Brand?
Jeb Bush hasn’t damaged the Republican brand?
George Bushes haven’t damaged the Republican brand?
Paul Ryan hasn’t damaged the Republican brand.
Heck we are trying clean up the brand after those idiots destroyed it. Oh thro in Mitt Romney too,

Well, now they are talking about Moore winning in headlines.

Now that the slim hopes of a write in or a Democrat win are rapidly diminishing, McConnell & Co. are stuck with what to do with Moore for the next two years. I still expect them to marginalize him, I expect the attacks will continue, I expect them to diminish him and make him look bad at every opportunity. I expect the Democrats will attack him at every chance and will make him a campaign issue in 2018 by raising Moore with every Republican candidate that runs. And then in 2020 the GOPe will primary him, probably with Mo Brooks.

Just for a laugh, next year President Trump should nominate SENATOR Moore for any Supreme Court vacancy. Hahaha. Winning is sooooo much fun.

Maybe the people of Alabama realize that if the allegations against Moore are true, then the worst thing that will happen is just that he’ll fit right in with the crooked deviants and screwballs who sit in the U.S. Senate.
