Dems are using the Roy Moore sexual scandal to spin 2018 races
Axios ^ | 11/20/17 | Shannon Vavra

Democrats are working to use the sexual misconduct allegations against Roy Moore to campaign against Republicans up for elections in 2018 and some are using the controversy to try and raise funds for themselves, Politico reports.

Why it matters: They're making it an electoral issue when Republicans can likely do the same and spin it right back at them, given Sen. Al Franken's misconduct with journalist Leeann Tweeden. Bottom line is you can expect this issue to play out in 2018 campaign messages, and candidates on both sides of the aisle will be expected to answer for their colleague's behavior and alleged misconduct at the polls, according to Politico.

Pretty high probability of a circular firing squad with this idea.

Franken is not resigning.

Unless he does your scenario does not hold water.

“And...? If the tax bill passes they will lose seats. If it doesn’t pass they might win a few House seats but still no Senate seats.
If the tax bill passes then I really don’t want to be a Republican congressman in New York, California, Pennsylvania, or Illinois facing all those voters whose taxes I just raised. In the Senate, it may not cost any incumbents. But it could also prevent picking up many Democrat seats, and it could hurt in two of the three open seats”

I think you are overlooking one of the subsurface aims of this bill which is to burn down the liberal state tax hungry empires. So yes you are right it could cost House seats in New York New Jersey maybe Pennsylvania and Illinois ( Illinois? really?) eventually ALL Of those seats would be gone with NOTHING to show for it. I live in New York and say GO TRUMP GO!

There is no photographic evidence with Moore as there is with Franken.

Franken was caught "red handin" while Moore is dealing with heresay from 40 years ago, with the only "evidence" being an obviously forged yearbook, which Gloria Allred refuses to hand over.

Hardly. Franken won't resign, he doesn't have to. But he'll go through the dog-and-pony show of ethics hearings and contrition and public flogging. Moore, like I said, is calling his accusers liars. A big difference in how people perceive it.

At last count, there are over 1800 sealed indictments related to the Mueller investigation. That is more than all the people who worked on the Trump campaign.

Donald Trump told a kid who asked him, that he was Batman. Q Clearance posts pictures of Chinese islands that could reasonably be taken from Air Force One.

In the second debate, Donald Trump promised to have his Attorney General appoint a Special Prosecutor to investigate Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump met with Mueller the day before Mueller was appointed. Robert Mueller was never eligible to be FBI Director as he had already served 12 years. Donald Trump believes in redemption and second chances.

The Democrats should think twice before promoting their newly discovered sexual morality.

What do they say when Moore wins?

They'll say if you want more child molesters in the Senate like Moore, than vote Republican.

Hearsay is second party testimony - someone heard someone say something. Hearsay can't be used in court. Moore is facing 8 or 10 women who are accusing him directly; that's not hearsay. Allred's questionable client aside, there is no evidence one way or the other to show if Moore is lying or if the women are.

Driving the sheep back to the Democrats isn't the wisest thing to do either.

Ok you must be GOPe. Franken a saint for being caught groping a sleeping women, while Moore is satan, for refuting accusations from 40 years ago, that did not come out while he ran for many public offices.

Jeff Flake is that you?

Are you sure your question is directed at me? My post was about Dem unethical behavior. Apples and oranges. I'll answer the question though. Those Rep Congs in those states should object to the elimination of the state tax deduction if their seats are on the line and in general principle. I'm for the best tax reform bill to all across the board, which is cuts including in the top tax bracket. The last time I looked Repubs still have majorities in both Cong houses, and the tax reform bill is not passed yet into law.

Allred's questionable client aside, there is no evidence one way or the other to show if Moore is lying or if the women are.

But there is evidence to show they are lying.

The first woman said she had a phone inside her bedroom. Her mother said she did not.

One woman who made the claim that Roy asked her on a date but nothing bad happened is still counted as an accuser.

Another who said he gave her wine at age 19 lied about being a Dem plant.

Beverly Nelson obviously lied and forged a yearbook.

The Democrats are trying to recreate the playbook from 2006.

In 2006, Mark Foley (R-FL) was alleged to have inappropriate sexual contact with underage House pages. Foley said he waited until the pages are of age before having contacts with them.

Nancy Pelosi turned this into a "drain the swamp" campaign that resulted in the wave election that saw Democrats take control of the House of Representatives. That's what she hopes to do again in 2018.

On the Democrat side, there is a straight line from the Clintons back to the earliest modern DC sex scandal. In 1974, the powerful Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee Wilbur Mills (D-AR) was caught with stripper Fanne Foxe (the "Tidal Basin Bombshell) when he was pulled over at 2:00am for a DUI. Mills represented Little Rock for 38 years. When Mills resigned, Clinton buddy Jim Guy Tucker (currently Arkansas Attorney General) succeeded Mills in Congress, and Clinton took Tucker's seat as Attorney General. Clinton eventually became Governor, and when he became President Tucker left Congress and became Governor after Clinton.

Of course, this is all ancient history for most people today, but it shows how Arkansas is Democrat Ground Zero for all sorts of scandals. Wilbur Mills is Patient Zero. Two years later, Wayne Hays (D-OH) became infected when he was caught paying his "secretary" Elizabeth Ray ("I can't type, I can't file, I can't even answer the phone.") for two years to be his mistress.

But that was then, and this is now. The rules are different for Republicans these days.

Many things worry me about 2018 but this isn’t one of them. The Dems trying to use Roy Moore is like someone making an issue of me having a tooth pick in my hair while they have a tree falling on their house. Sure, both are made of wood, but the magnitude of one v. the other is astounding.

This will only make them look more hypocritical than they already do on this issue.

Franken was caught on photo. He had no choice but to admit it. Colleagues were demanding an ethics probe. Calling for the inevitable is so what.

I don’t recall Moore calling the women liars, except maybe the one with the forged yearbook. If you have an exact quote of him calling the first accusers “liars” I’d like to see it. Denying a charge, is not calling the accuser a liar.

And for all I know maybe these women are liars. They have no proof of their charges and apparently didn’t think much of what happened for the last 40 years.

About the only “offense” I see with Moore is that 40 years ago he liked to date younger women. A common practice in the south back then. My mother in law was 17 when she married.

I don’t see the America hating Marxists in the dem party pulling the morality card. It’s not something the immoral are good at.

Leigh Corfman is making the rounds.

And so Moore dated younger girls. But 14...he's not stupid.

Her tale...that he put blankets on the floor...really???....that's ridiculous...

Wonder if she can describe the inside of his house. She should be able to do that if she remembers blankets on the floor.

She said he had a dirt drive and they drove about a half hour. Wonder where he lived back then. Anyone have a 1978 or 1979 directory?

If Moore wins the answer is simple when a politician is asked about the allegations. Just say ‘“What I think about it is irrelevant, the people of Alabama know him better than I do and they sent him to the senate. You got a problem with the people of Alabama take it up with them.” It would take an awfully dumb republican to fall into that trap.
