This is the chilling moment a group of nurses laughed as a World War II veteran died in a Georgia care home. The nurses were meant to be fixing an oxygen mask onto 89-year-old James Dempsey after he called for help saying he couldn't breathe. But a surveillance camera captured them laughing as the breathing machine failed, and Dempsey fell unconscious, and records show they waited an hour to call 911. One of the nurses is seen laughing so hard she is doubled over Dempsey's deathbed. Initially, Dempsey's family in Woodstock, Georgia, thought he had died of natural causes in Northeast Atlanta Health and Rehabilitation Center in 2014. However, his son Tim had promised they would install a hidden camera when he first moved in there as he feared mistreatment. Weeks after Dempsey's death, Tim reviewed the footage - and what he saw sparked a three-year legal battle. Despite watching the video in court in 2015, the nurses kept their licenses until now that local television station WXIA-TV/11Alive persuaded the court to release the footage to the public.

This has been pulled several times.
Good luck.
I am Tim.
Most of the family wanted to put gramma in a home a few years ago. 2 people disagreed...me and my uncle.
Both of us knew she would be abused at some point. We also knew we’d spend the rest of our lives in jail because of what happened after learning she was abused.
Currently living at my 98 year old grandmother’s house. Cooking, cleaning, laundrying. It’s a small sacrifice to pay her back for caring for me when I needed it.
My Korean buddy made me an honorary Asian...was surprised to hear white people were taking care of their elders.
How many other Vets suffered at the hands of these nurses?
The victim is white, so there’s clearly no hate crime.
You’re a good man. This story made me ill.
I guess you could say they were taking a knee when this World War II veteran was dying.
This certainly isn’t a black / white issue to me. I lost both of my parents over the last few years. Both spent a lot of time in hospitals. Some of the best and most loving and caring nurses my parents had were black nurses. A few of these nurses have a special place in my heart. I know they did the best they could.
Nah....I’m average at best. I wouldn’t do it for anyone else. She’s something special.
My Dad lives with me, WW2 vet and my hero. Brothers and sister were ok with putting him in a home last year, I was not. My family and I are blessed to have him.
Anecdotal, but I visited my uncle in a nursing home and the place smelled like urine and didnt seem very clean or updated. A staff member was busy working on a bulletin board. My first thought was, why isnt this staff person cleaning?
My second thought was, never allow a family member to be placed in a nursing home.
I haven’t watched the video (because I know how it will make me feel) but I’m wondering from the description if these idiot nurses were stoned.
And he respects you so much for doing it. We all have our stones to push up hill. You’re doing the right thing. ENJOY IT.
Theirs was washing our butts and making sure we had enough to eat. Working their asses off to make sure we grew up healthy and happy.
It happened...now it’s time to repay. All things come full circle.
As an aside, I’m enjoying immensely the political conversations and topics of “society today” at the dinner table.
She’s seen so much. And she’s still “all here”. I’m just soaking it all up and enjoying the time I’m having with her.
Before watching the video, it wasn’t hard to guess the races of ALL involved... Blacks laughing at whites dying? Happens everyday. Probably a hundred times a day.
Hadn’t heard about this murder any time during the last two years. Imagine if the races had been switched.
OMG :-)
Dear Lord, please beam me up.
I suppose this sort of evil is to be expected in a society that allows the torture and killing of full-term babies.
Look at what we have become :-(
God bless you Tim, you are one of the good guys.
What are their names?
They may still have their licenses, but if their names and faces go viral then maybe employers will hesitate to hire them.
Good job, Tim. Real men take care of their families. Well done. PS: write down or record some of the stories your grandmother shares with you.
Thank you for treasuring your grandmother as you do. You and she are blessed. Take as much video as you can, with respect to her dignity. She is part of this country’s history. God Bless.
