Outnumbered male college students in Texas have created a sharp gender gap in statewide completion rates and, according to the states higher education commissioner, a campus cultural problem for men.
Were getting to the point where males feel uncomfortable on some college campuses, said Raymund Paredes, who leads Texas higher education coordinating board.
Paredes spoke Thursday at the University of Houston Systems board meeting to address progress toward broader statewide goals of having 60 percent of young adults in Texas earn a post-secondary degree or certificate by 2030.
He identified several target populations that are lagging in achieving those goals: black students, Hispanic students, economically disadvantaged students and men.
Male students in Texas earned 62,211 degrees and certificates from public four-year universities in 2016, far behind female students, who received 82,700, according to the coordinating boards data. That gap has persisted since at least 2014.
This is a situation that is unsustainable, he said.
Paredes said that some Texas campuses enroll 60 percent women and 40 percent men and added that black and Hispanic men are the least well-represented subgroups in higher education.

on the plus side... the few men who do go to college... can take their pick of the women there.
An unpleasant angry woman.
LOL!
A harridan!
LIEberal to boot, no doubt!
If you want to go to college and want to earn that degree, you need to make the grades, and these days boys are not making the grades necessary to earn their college degrees.
I was thinking the same thing. But then I remembered men are now put in jail for even looking the wrong way at the women. And, most of these women's-studies-major women, you don't want to look at anyway.
The article is a complete failure. It does not consider the college major by gender.
STEM majors are dominated by men; that is a problem.
Women are in the soft majors. In medicine they dominate nursing, but men have the doctors.
The men who have the most advantage, would be men who live or work near the campus, but who have already graduated. They can pick up college girls at the local night spots, and not worry about being brought up before a campus Star Chamber.
... men have the doctors.

You havent been paying attention to the enrollment mix in medical schools in recent years. The share of female enrollment has soared.
Same thing applies to law schools.
Libtards have created a hostile environment for men just about everywhere.
Men would be drawn and quartered if they did the same thing for women.
White male successful science masters graduates cannot get into medical schools.
The number of reserved slots for women and minorities make acceptance narrow funnel with special connections the key.
Knew a staff heart transplant surgeon that was on the board of a University Medical school who went to the board when his 4.0 son was not accepted to that University med school which was also his alma mater. He was not happy and they reversed it. Young man made a great doctor.
So long as men are required to beg forgiveness for toxic masculinity and white privilege, college will be an endurance test for them, tolerated as a necessary evil.
Of course. The males are good only for their money. From day 1, they are harassed and relegated to second class citizenship. They can be blamed for rape or an unwanted look, and they are out of there, but their money stays.
Don’t these colleges have special safe places for these snowflakes to go to?
Put your pajamas on and drink some coffee.
where males feel uncomfortable on some college campuses,
Mission accomplished...it took 20yrs but they won. Now they can throw rocks at them with no consequences.
These “men” are not even educated enough to stand up for themselves in a system that make jim crow look like racial harmony.
Except that they live in fear of college administrators persecuting them if a woman says “I changed my mind, so it is rape” or “we’re both drunk but it is rape”.
“the few men who do go to college... can take their pick of the women there.”
Provided they get everything signed in triplicate and notarized.
I had a crazy girl stalk me at a Texas college campus. I dated her a couple of times, did not sleep with her (although I could have), and decided she was nuts. Basically, took her on three dates (where I paid and opened doors), with a chaste kiss the first time, and a bit more fully-clothed snogging the other two.
When I broke off our 10-day-long courtship, she went apeshit, followed me around campus, had a male relative try (and fail) to beat me up, and showed up at my house repeatedly, smashing pots and whatnot. (I just ignored her and didn’t open the door.)
The police reluctantly took her away from my house, called because of property destruction.
She filed a complaint against ME for stalking.
I was almost expelled, despite the police reports, numerous witnesses of her abuse, and recordings she left on my answering machine demanding I date her/see her/etc.
Colleges are no place for men and no place for romance.
I do not think that word means what they think it means. LOL -- they DO use it a lot these days, don't they?
What's happening is that touchie-feelie girls are going to university to learn mushy sweet nothings (some guys like that stuff too). Men who want to get ahead in the world are going into trade schools and getting into actual productivity with their lives. Reality is the best teacher.
