You’ve heard the statistics before: Americans have more guns per head than any nation on earth – along with gun violence rates that are dramatically higher than other rich, developed countries.

But these big-picture facts can be misleading. Not every American is packing heat and gun violence is intensely concentrated in small neighbourhoods.

Here’s a look at the dramatic concentration of America’s guns – and America’s violence:

How weird is that? So almost everyone I know is a 3%er?

(Not to mention the Franklin Armory Binary Trigger system I just installed in my AR)

Dammit! I'm saving as fast as I can.

Please ask me about this before you install it. There’s a common issue with this system that will screw it up if you’re not aware of it beforehand. Please do nothing to install this device until you hear from me.

Actually in this county I carry whats called a “PACK LICENSE” and I am legally entitled to 8 boys and girls.
My big boy JACK (legal name “LOWJACK JAMES”) and my little bitty baby girl HONEY (legal name “HONEYBUNNY JAMES”) died awhile back.
Jack 2 years ago this December 23’rd and HONEY 15 months ago on June 20.
Big JACK was a tiny 116 pound NEWFOUNDLANDER and HONEY was Daddy’s little bitty lovey 124 pound ENGLISH MASTIFF.
Sophie, George, Penny, Billy, Rosy, and Heidi are still pretty young and doing fine, but I am still looking to adopt at least one big boy and girl to fill out our fire team.
We are looking for some boys and girls less than 24 months old and will top out at about 150 pounds of love, loyalty, and determination.
Adoption only, good food (I make it myself), good quarters (yes they live in the house with me), good training (rewards only, no harsh discipline), trained to protect the property and family only.

So, no we don’t qualify as a COMPOUND (perhaps as a patriot training camp).

Problem with telephone polls about guns is that, well, I'm about as likely to tell an anonymous caller that I own a gun as I am to give my social security number and credit card numbers to an anonymous stranger.

The libs would like to think that 400,000,000 guns are concentrated in the hands of just a few "gun nuts".

According to Gallup, 63% of Americans think that "guns make the home a safer place" and according to Rasmussen, 68% "feel safer in a neighborhood where guns are allowed."

I think that's close to the "real number".

If you felt that a smoke alarm made your home safer, wouldn't you have one?

Guns can wear-out, but they generally last a long, long time and are the kind of thing that you pass down to your kids and grandkids. A lot of guns are kept for sentimental reasons and may not be something you’d take out to shoot on a regular basis. The Guardian is probably counting the people that say “Oh yeah, we have a gun in the house.
Grandpa’s old Kentucky rifle is hangin’ over the fireplace”.

The majority of states have no gun registration, so they really have no idea who owns guns and how many.

I think the real number is probably at least 2x the 265 million.

Way I heard it was 25% fought for the British, 25% fought on the American side, and 50% stayed the hell out of it. But I do take your point. If there were to be a second civil war, the simple majority of people would take no part in the proceedings.

If you know your exact number of guns, you need to keep shopping.
