Yanagisawa said he was randomly notified by the Japanese foreign ministry about their interest in having him cook for Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during their golf outing at the Kasumi Country Club on Nov. 5.
He was responsible for cooking 20 meals in the country club's kitchen. Trump ordered his burger well done.
After the meal, Trump told Yanagisawa his meal had been "very good, very good."
I felt so honored, the chef said. He added that he was only able to get out "thank you" in the heat of the moment
Yutaka Yanagisawa, the owner of a Tokyo burger joint, said his restaurant has been inundated with hungry customers who want to eat the same cheeseburger that President Trump had during his visit to Japan last week.
One diner, pastry chef Haruyuki Sano, said he agrees with Trump's ideology of putting one's own country first, and traveled an hour and a half to have the same 100 percent U.S. Angus beef Colby Jack Cheeseburger that Trump ordered.
It tasted great, like steak, Sano told an Associated Press reporter at Munchs Burger Shack on Thursday.
The meal, deemed the "President Trump set," is a new addition to the restaurant's menu and has become one of its most popular orders, Yanagisawa said.
For 1,400 yen, about $12, a customer will get a cheeseburger, a side of fries and coleslaw. The burger is served with lettuce, tomato, and melted cheese in between warmed buns.

Folks who have been around a while know that to sample a culture, you start with the food.
Now that President Trump has come and gone from Japan, and hearts and minds are opening in fashions not yet fathomed.
Yes, America has it’s own “cuisine”, but two staples stand out across the world: a hot dog, and a hamburger. Right now, the TRUMP hamburger has the attention, sorta like that 72 ounce steak challenge some of you might know about.
I will admit, ANY of that restaurant’s burgers look like “the meal of the day”!!!
I like my steak medium. I’ve no issue with hamburgers being well done, so long as it isn’t dry - which can be a fine line. My wife is picky, she wants it well done, juicy, and if there’s a hint of pink it can’t be eaten :)
I now allow the hamburger to first get to room temperature, make the patties large and thin, then cook on a very hot grill - about 3 1/2 minutes on each side.
Then adds ketchup, as I recall.
When the meat goes into the bag, does that end up in the oven? (I have a very very basic set of cooking skills, so this is a serious question.) Thanks.
‘If it is a problem, either dont serve steak or dont invite people who like it well done.’
or invite me to dinner; I eat beef maybe once every three months, mostly ground in a pasta sauce...
And? I use Sweet Baby Ray’s.
No, the temperature of the water cooks it in the bag. If you want it browned that can be done with seasonings in the bag or it can be browned superficially in other ways, like on a grill as I’ve done, in an oven or with a specialized gas browning torch like some chefs use.
>>I was going to grill a prime rib and asked by brother in law how he liked it...he said well done...He got a steak well done..everyone else got prime rib..medium
Well done! (Pun intended) This is America where each person can choose they they want to eat their food. You are a great American for honoring his request!
You don’t need to buy one of the expensive dedicated sous-vide cookers either, there are fairly inexpensive devices that circulate the water in your sink and keep the temperature at a consistent level, that’s what I use. Tons of videos on YouTube, go have a look.
So an Indian was cooking his burger? :) That's cultural appropriation and racist.............
DJT’s only failure is shoe-leather steaks.
After a local family almost lost their 9 year old son to e-coli as a result of undercooked ground beef, most folks I know eat their burgers well done.
Thanks.
I often ask for medium well. Usually it comes to me medium rare which is how I like it. Cooks around here are not the best.
While it was probably Kobe or something close to it, well is not the best choice. All the same he could have called it “well” and have had it served traditionally. We may never know.
“Somebody give me a cheeseburger!”
Meat ain’t cooked unless it is well done. I eat all meat well done and I don’t get food poisoning.
>>>Trumps burger and fries was only $12 because it was at the country club. Elite clubs often charge may under market for the food since the membership pays hefty fees for initiation and monthly dues. If he had it in a restaurant in the heart of Tokyo, it would have been $50 or more.<<<
Great, now I have to cancel my Trump Burger Lover Tour to Japan.
