Cards Against Humanity, an irreverent card game company known for its attention-seeking pranks, says it bought land on the U.S.-Mexico border to block President Trump from building his wall.
The Chicago company said on its website that this was part of a holiday promotion, for which customers could contribute to the wall-blocking project with $15 purchases for surprise gift packages.
On Wednesday morning, just a few hours after the launching the program on Tuesday, Cards Against Humanity said it was sold out.
"Donald Trump is a preposterous golem who is afraid of Mexicans," said Cards Against Humanity on its web site. "He is so afraid that he wants to build a twenty-billion dollar wall that everyone knows will accomplish nothing. So we've purchased a plot of vacant land on the border and retained a law firm specializing in eminent domain to make it as time-consuming and expensive as possible for the wall to get built."
Cards Against Humanity said that contributing to the land purchase and its legal defense was the first of six days of gifts that customers would be receiving in December.

Yeah, that doesn’t work, as many millionaires who didn’t want their property taken for a road have learned over the decades.
The government will never even deal with their lawyers, they’ll follow protocol. And since the company just bought the land, it will be trivially easy for the government to establish the price for the land, so they won’t even be able to argue mis-pricing.
(BTW, pricing issues don’t generally stop ED projects, the land is confiscated, and the only court case is held to decide how much money will actually be transfered).
Two words: Imminent Domain.
Hey, everyone! Newbie raiderboy only voted for Trump to get the wall!
Just put the Big Beautiful Door where their Land is. LOL
An open competition was held to get the best ideas for an effective barrier. Submissions were reviewed, and contracts were awarded for eight different prototypes to built for testing. Construction of the prototypes is complete, and we are now waiting thirty days for the concrete to cure, before conducting tests.
Up close, they are fomidible, running around 30 feet high.
Some wall will definitely be built, especially in San Diego and the Rio Grande Valley area of South Texas (Brownsville, McAllen). I expect the first task orders under the new contract to be awarded in the next few months. The real issue will be how much money gets in the budget. The way the contract is structured they could do very little, or a massive effort, depending on how much funding is added.
Customs and Border Protection wants double barriers in the tough urban areas, with an enforcement zone (no man's land) in between them, wired with sensors, lights and cameras.
If the wall “isn’t going to do anything,” why do they oppose it?
Why couldn’t the government run the fence on the north side of the property while the suit festers?

Didnt You see the Prototypes going up in South California dude? Get a design and THEN you build.
Yup. It’s a scam.
Brilliant idea!
just build the wall to keep these aliens out of my country.
The President doesn’t have the power to do that — and would you want him to? Seriously? You want the President to be able to unilaterally give the private property of American citizens to a foreign country without any due process? Does the border state get a say in this?
Because it will cost billions of dollars to accomplish that nothing.
But, from the other posts, it looks like they are going to be building SOME walls. But no one was against the US government building ALL walls, just the idea of building a continuous wall that runs the entire border.
“Where is the damned Wall. I’m tired of waiting.”
Prototypes will be ready for testing 27 Nov (concrete cured to specification).
Testing is estimated to take 30-60 days - possibly complete before Christmas, if not, then around mid-January.
The first task orders would likely take 30-60 days each for bids, and then evaluation/selection.
Work should commence within 30 days of award (my estimate). I’d guess that construction will start April or May 2018. Award protests could again delay the contracting, and special emphasis might possibly expedite some steps, so plus or minus three months.
The consensus seems to be that $1.6 billion will be in the FY18 budget, to replace the San Diego barrier (14-16 miles), and build 60 new miles in the urbanized Rio Grande Valley. These have been the biggest crossing areas (called Phase 1 in the plan).
Once the contractors have been working, have their crews trained, suppliers lined up and the bugs worked out, they will be ready to ramp up with additional crews and equipment.
Fiscal Year 2019, which starts October 1st 2018, is the real opportunity to start large scale construction. $10 billion in the FY19 budget would be about an all-you-could-eat wall construction feast, funding up to 1,000 miles of barrier (but at least several hundred high priority miles). They might not finish building all that in FY 2019, but the contracts could be awarded, and the funds committed.
$10 billion in FY 2019 would complete Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the plan - which would do all the high crossing urbanized areas along the border. Phase 3 is the remaining long stretches of rural areas.
$10 billion in the FY19 budget, and $10 Billion more in FY20 would basically get the wall built, during Trump’s first term.
It is a major construction project - but once that concrete is in place, it will be equally hard to move when a Democrat Administration wants to scuttle it. They can pull the guards back, but a thirty foot wall will always have an inherent deterrent ability.
Maybe they'd enjoy a little visit from the IRS too. Both the company and the owners...and those who bought tickets!
Why bother with ceding the land? We could easily turn this into a positive. Build the wall around the property, open on the Mexican side, and dump all the people who don't like their own country into the void.
There are any number of college profs and other libs, like Hanoi Jane, and the staff of MSNBC, who could appreciate a truly lawless patch to call their own...
I wonder if the property has water?
Build the wall around their land. They can be on the side facing Mexico. Probably cheaper than a legal fight.
In the meantime, go audit their books. Since they say they intend to make it as expensive as possible for the American people, go find out if they’re not putting in their full amount into the tax pool.
