An Alabama candidate for the US Senate is strongly denying allegations that he sexually abused a 14-year-old girl.
Roy Moore, a Republican firebrand, said claims that he preyed on a teenager while he was a 32-year-old prosecutor were "completely false".
Leigh Corfman and three other women say Mr Moore made sexual advances on them when they were between the ages of 14 and 18, the Washington Post reports.
The top Senate Republican said Mr Moore must step aside if the claims are true.
Mr Moore, who is now 70, said in a statement to the Post: "These allegations are completely false and are a desperate political attack by the National Democrat Party and the Washington Post on this campaign."
The Christian conservative's team said in another statement about the allegations, "this garbage is the very definition of fake news and intentional defamation".
"Judge Roy Moore has endured the most outlandish attacks on any candidate in the modern political arena, but this story in today's Washington Post alleging sexual impropriety takes the cake," its statement added.

The Deep State did everything it could and even used every RINO they could to keep Moore from getting a chance at the Senate. Nothing worked. Now they expect ancient he-said she-said unsubstantiated 40 year old mere claims to substitute for facts, before any kind of hearing, to, force Moore out of the race on allegations alone.
That McCain is part of this should strengthen the case that the claims are bogus. He’s out there pinch hitting for McConnell and the Dims.
Only thing missing (so far) is Gloria Allred and her darling little girl, Lisa Bloom. Oh, and a few dramatic tears to lend credibility.
R Senators are trying to fill in the gap.

Uh huh. Good luck with that. He would have to prove not only that the allegations are false, but that the Washington Post knows the statements are false and published them anyway.
This guy needs to get up and do a news conference.

A written denial while sitting at home or in the office will not serve him as well as standing before the electorate and stating these women are lying.
The problem is that he will be tainted in many people’s minds. The left has always been good at ruining people and leaving doubts about their character. It stinks.
Roy Moore would do well to get out on the campaign trail and start hammering John McCain as a Swamp-Creature who represents everything that is wrong in Washington D.C.

Well the news said the one girl didn’t come forward before because she doesn’t have the best reputation and was afraid she’d be smeared.

Yeah don’t ever go into campaign strategy. He srongly denied itand that’s all he needs to do. Move on, because to do a press conferences and be questioned by the press would just give it more life.
I don’t think GOPe is smart enough to pull off something of this kind.

This is very reminiscent of the charges leveled against Herman Cain that mysteriously disappeared after he dropped out of the race for President.
Well, the journalist that wrote the article was arrested for writing false checks.
If we let them get away with this BS the next election will be a blood bath on our side, EVERY damned candidate will be accused of this CRAP!!!! The BASTARDS did this to Trump and he walked right into a press conference with ALL of the Clinton accusers WE need to STAND UP to these BASTARDS once and for all the way that Trump did!!!!!
This is knee capping spun up by the GOPe, McConnell could not beat it out fast enough to demand he step down.
