Texas church shooting leaves many dead

At least 27 people have died after a gunman opened fire at a church in Texas during Sunday services.

The attack happened at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs in Wilson County.

A police commissioner at the scene confirmed that at least 27 people had died. Several others are reported to be injured.

The San Antonio FBI branch said its agents had been deployed, and there was no indication of the gunman's motive.

The FBI also said that while only one shooter was reported, it was looking into other possibilities.

Local ABC affiliate KSAT 12 reported the gunman entered the church at around 11:30 local time (17:30 GMT). It also said he had been killed in the aftermath.

Photos and video from the scene showed the area taped off by local law enforcement.

A number of helicopters have arrived to transport the wounded, KSAT 12 reporter Max Massey said.

Texas governor Greg Abbott said: "Our prayers are with all who were harmed by this evil act. Our thanks to law enforcement for their response."

He said more details would be released by the Texas Department of Public Safety shortly.

You can’t carry in church, but the Church has to have a 30.06 or 30.07sign posted. Would be interesting to find out if that particular church had any posted. I doubt it.

I heard witnesses say he was dressed in “full gear”, which I assume is military gear. Doesn’t sound like a Muslim. Reportedly his name was Chris Ward.

No, I’m saying that I have lot of experience with social media investigations. She recently changed her profile pic to her and her father. I didn’t see much about her husband on her profile. Granted, I can’t see her entire page, but what I saw raised flags of someone who didn’t want to see her spouse all over her page.

So many demands for self-defense. I don't see much concern or love expressed here for the families, the congregation, the staff, the pastor. Just demands. The Apostle Paul said that a day would come in a society under God's Judgment in which people would be without understanding, unloving, unmerciful.

That day has arrived.

“You may not carry in church.”

I do. Every time we go. Soft target.

“In my church there would be a response from several directions”.

That’s good to hear.

There are numerous churches that are prepared and would respond.

"Not allowed to carry in church."

Gotta be a local grievance is my guess? How political is a tiny church in a tiny town?

Many of our Church members carry, including some women. Someone comes into our Church with guns blazing, they’ll be shot dead on site.

yes you are allowed to carry in a Texas church unless the church has posted 30.06 prohibition signs.
