At least 27 people have died after a gunman opened fire at a church in Texas during Sunday services.
The attack happened at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs in Wilson County.
A police commissioner at the scene confirmed that at least 27 people had died. Several others are reported to be injured.
The San Antonio FBI branch said its agents had been deployed, and there was no indication of the gunman's motive.
The FBI also said that while only one shooter was reported, it was looking into other possibilities.
Local ABC affiliate KSAT 12 reported the gunman entered the church at around 11:30 local time (17:30 GMT). It also said he had been killed in the aftermath.
Photos and video from the scene showed the area taped off by local law enforcement.
A number of helicopters have arrived to transport the wounded, KSAT 12 reporter Max Massey said.
Texas governor Greg Abbott said: "Our prayers are with all who were harmed by this evil act. Our thanks to law enforcement for their response."
He said more details would be released by the Texas Department of Public Safety shortly.

In Kansas they have constitutional carry but for years certain buildings including churches were allowed to post the evil image of a gun with the slashy thing through it. Then the new law says that unless there is formal security, i.e., a metal detector and a couple of armed guards, then they can’t keep guns out. The libs here in Douglas county are melting down. hehe

We should all be like Kennesaw, Georgia. Law that everyone owns a gun take classes to protect yourself...
They may rarely punish their citizens for choosing not to own a gun, but their loose mandates are more about making a statement than enforcing a law. Where's your proof? I take it you didn't scan the report I linked in a previous comment. Here: Concealed Carry in Churches. Jacob Paulsen's 2016 map is easy to understand, and no one claims his research is wrong. Two states prohibit it, and another eight states and DC require permission from the church to conceal carry. Most states allow it.
I’m reading that Chris Ward is not the shooter and that his wife and child are possibly missing.
This church was in Texas. These people were perfectly free to defend themselves.

The church I go to in Texas has either a 30.06 or 30.07 sign, but also has a security team. One is a uniformed Houston Police Department officer. The head of the team is retired HPD. You can tell who is on the team by the earpieces. And they are armed.
If memory serves, the wife’s coworkers were getting involved and egging her on against her husband. This is what was reported and what the husband alleged and why he went there and shot the place up.
