Yes, I liked Trump’s original plan better, but looks like they couldn’t get the congress to agree.

To err is human, but to really FUBAR requires an act of congress.

I think what I am getting from some is they can no longer deduct high medical expenses. There are some really ill Freepers. Sad.

What I am getting is the same people have been claiming things not true, like liberals.

The anti-Trump types have been out in force lately on FR making liberal statements.

Part of my income is self-employed home business I wonder how that is affected? I guess since it’s all lumped into my gross I would still be better off- assuming business deductions/expenses are relatively unchanged. I hate taxes. And what has happened to the ACA penalty? Will turbo tax yet again force one to comply? I may have to find another tax software.

Seems to me that taxpayers in low tax states (in the South, for example) are subsidizing wealthy, high tax states like New York,Connecticut and California.

Liberals try to scare young voters. A person making $20K no children would be taxed at 5% and pay $960, or $80/mo, and a person making $16K, no children would be taxed at 3% or $480. Seems very reasonable. How do liberals think that’s unfair?

the taxation would work out for us THIS year....but property taxes do not go down...and eventually, we’ll be in the red in owing taxes...of course we are getting older and our income will go down..

No it’s not and you’re not cognizant of what’s in this proposal, that we know of, to date.

Look...you and sadly, many other posters here have NO idea what's in this damned mess, you don't keep up with what is dribbling out daily, nor do you apparently give a damn that this is a VERY harmful, to a whole LOT of people and the economy, idiotic pail full of vomit.

Stop being a damned DOG IN THE MANGER, who imagines that YOU will get a tax reduction and those who don't somehow "deserve" to get spat on and their pockets emptied.

This was supposed to be a TAX CUT in the Reagan mold. IT ISN'T; NOT BY A LONG SHOT...it is a TAX INCREASE for many, many, many MIDDLE CLASS people !

Even we healthy freepers had some unreimbursed medical deductions, property tax, charitable, state sales taxes. By eliminating most of those it puts it close to the new standard deduction so not really worth itemizing any longer. Replace that with a lower (than old itemized) standard deduction and you pay more taxes.

Stop already with your lefty LIE; this has NOTHING to do with Trump!

Outside of the lowering of corporate tax, which Trump did NOT get at the level he wanted, he supposedly had less than NOTHING whatsoever to do with the writing of this maggot infested sack of sh*t.

I take mine to an accountant and as Jim said, the computer only puts in the numbers provided so there are some things that were not in the computation so you very well be right that I won’t have to pay that or anything close to.

Texans pay NO state income tax; however, many regions of that state have VERY high property taxes, which under this proposal will now be capped at $10,000. And no, the doubling of the personal deduction won't do much to help them.

Most of the states you named pay MORE into the Fed than they get back from it, so your statement is a crock.

I go from 33% to 25%. Seems like an odd table. People over $260K in income go from 33% to 35%. I'm just under that. So if I get a raise, I go from saving a lot to paying more. I'm thinking something is not right about that table in post #4.

Wish we had a flat tax. Everybody pay 15%.
