It’s not as if dystopian fiction originated with contemporary young adult fiction writers.

Some of my favorites are (beyond the obvious such as Orwell’s 1984 and Zamyatin’s We):
1) the Kipling short stories “With the Night Mail” and “Easy as A.B.C.”
2) Aldous Huxley’s Novels Brave New World and After Many a Summer Dies the Swan
3) John Updike’s first novel, The Poorhouse Fair
4) Walker Percy, Love in the Ruin

That was a rather interesting article...

It’s as though TPTB looked at 1984 and Brave New World and said, “Why not both?”

Throw in a dash of Clockwork Orange, and away we goooooo...
