Victim is person of color - her mother is African American.
It was my understanding that No Child Left Behind made it a lot more difficult to kick the problem students out of school. Was this the case?
Yes that is it...I am now thinking it was Holden that did the ‘phone trick’... Holden could ‘pull that off’ better than Kennedy....ha ha
Also according to one article the police have not identified the assailants. Very strange.
Kennedy called for a ban on channel lock pliers in one of his first BLUE KNIGHT shows.
Suggest u file a complaint with the state police when u have a problem with the locals, then escalate it to the state’s attorney general.
No comparison. NRA is not trying to take something away from you but rather preserve it. On the other hand, teachers union-NEA-is solidly democrat and all in on gun control. They started it, they are the aggreissors and we are the good guys. Thats why I wish ill upon them.
“LIKE”
Oh, no. The comparison is perfect. Some liberals rejoice when a conservative has been injured by gun violence. They hope that the injured conservative is an NRA member.
You seem to be rejoicing (you “wish ill”) because a teacher has been injured in by school-rated violence.
You, and the liberal, are both saying that the injured person somehow deserves their injures, simply because they belong to some group.
Permit me to point out something. The conservative who was shot did not put that gun into the shooter’s hands. And the teacher who was hit with the brick did not put that brick into the parent’s hands. Both victims are completely innocent, and to rejoice over either’s fate is beyond the pale. That’s the way antifa thinks.
I rejoice when my opponent is beaten at the polls. I don’t rejoice when my opponent is beaten on the streets.
You are, however, right about one thing. The teachers union is solidly democrat, and is all in on gun control. I’d say they are radical leftists. The union itself is corrupt, and the “elections” they hold are shams. But do not confuse the union with the membership, most of whom are just average Americans trying to make a living.
I know teachers who participate in socialist marches. But I know many more teachers who go skeet shooting on Saturdays, who take their kids fishing when they can, and who vote conservative (Republican or blue-dog Democrat).
Please forgive this long reply to you. But I have a number of teacher friends who were beaten while on the job. In one case, it ended her career. And yes, she was a conservative.
> It was my understanding that No Child Left Behind made it a lot more difficult to kick the problem students out of school. Was this the case? <
I really don’t know about that. In my experience, problem students remained in class simply because the principal was too weak. The old principals who were in place when I started teaching were no-nonsense. Many were military veterans. Most of the principals I know now are either social justice warriors, or career-climbers. In either case, they will not suspend problem students.
Here’s one thing I do know about No Child Left Behind. It has been VERY harmful to school curriculums. In the old days, we had quite a few students in trade classes (carpentry, plumbing, etc.) That was great! Those kids preferred to work with their hands, and they learned a skill.
But NCLB does not test for the trades. It tests for things like advanced algebra. Schools want to score well on NCLB, so they dropped their trades classes and shoved those kids into advanced algebra.
Some of those kids became problem students. They did not see a need for advanced algebra, and did not want to be there. And the teacher had to slow down the class because of that. Everyone suffers.
Dear madam:
I stand by my original contention. My oldest daughter is 56 years old and a teacher. Besides what she tells me and what I read and observe guides my opinion. Of course there’s always the caveat that there are exceptions and perhaps even the majority of forced union teachers are okay people. Unfortunately their wretched union and its activities are the face of teachers in general. For example, the Chicago teachers’ union is led by one Karen Lewis. She’s a piece of work and about as communist as they come. So I have zero compassion and do wish bad luck upon them just as they do me/us.
The insult (”dear madam”) is completely unwarranted, as you and I are both long-term Freepers. But I’ll look past that.
You say “unfortunately their wretched union and its activities are the face of teachers in general”. And you are 100% right about that!
As I noted earlier, the union is corrupt. And radical leftist. But I’m talking about the leadership here, not the membership. There are exceptions (like Chicago), but in general the leadership does not represent the views of the membership.
So how do these leaders get elected in the first place? The locals pull tricks that would make Stalin blush. The local leaders get elected again and again, and then they hand-pick successors who get elected again and again.
And in my union, the membership does not even get to vote on state and national leaders. They are hand-picked at rigged conventions.
It’s completely corrupt. A group of teacher friends sued the local over this about ten years ago. They lost, due to some arcane law in the union constitution. The folks who originally set up the union sure knew what they were doing.
But I do see some hope here. If the Supreme Court strikes down closed shop requirements, dissatisfied members will be able to leave the union.
I’ll close by saying what I said earlier. No one deserves a beating just because of an association with some legal organization. Think about it for a moment. You have a family member who is a teacher. Does she deserve anything bad to happen to her just because of her profession?
Sorry for the introductory salutation. Since women are gererally repulsed by violence I stereotyped.
Of course I didnt intend the comments to apply to all the rank and file teachers-or any other union- union members. I know union membership is by and large compulsory if you want the job. What the leadership and their street muscle does is an entirely differnt thing (SEIU,teachers, AFL-CIO, etc). Thats why I specified UNION ACTIVIST!!
We basically agree when we understand where we are coming from dont we?? And yes right to work is the answer.

Yes, agreed!
Quite often, I came home from school with new bruises from being shoved or tumbled into by students. I was threatened virtually every day with bodily harm, which I laughed off (any other response would immediately bring such action down on you). The deans would refuse to come to certain teachers' rooms if the teachers were targeted (i.e., expensive veteran teachers who wouldn't pass everyone so the chairman could get their good stats bonus) so that you were alone with 34 hostile students lacking normal societal inhibitions (some of whom had been in prison, but to protect the STUDENT'S rights, you weren't allowed to know). Anything could have happened and I count myself lucky I was only hospitalized once, when someone threw a rock at me during a fire drill, hitting me in a shoulder. Then, I had to spend 4 hours in an ER because it was clogged up with ILLEGALS who didn't have a family doctor for their medical problems, so they came to an ER, who could not turn them away due to immigration status. What a great day that was!
I am beside myself with joy every single day that I had enough years in to retire and get away from this disgusting parody of education---a progressive libtard free-for-all promoting LIES, FRAUD, and little else. No wonder 78% of NYC high school "graduates" have to take at least 1 year of remedial courses at college, which are merely high school level courses. They don't even belong in college!
Keep posting, EinNYC. Your story (which parallels mine) is one that the general public rarely hears.
There are many victims here...teachers who get attacked while just trying to do their jobs, taxpayers whose money is wasted. But perhaps the biggest victims are the decent students who must suffer through classes filled with hoodlums.

LR
