How can tax reform which lowers taxes on the middle class hurt the 49% who pay no income taxes whatsoever? The libs are trotting out the old “tax cuts for the rich” mantra again.

And yet Luther Strange was 100% on board with the Trump agenda, but that didn't give him any credibility with Bannon and most Freepers.

I think the author is being overly simplistic here.

Rand Paul has been instrumental in killing FAKE obamacare “repeal and replace” bills, none of which actually would do that. In general, the Paul Ryan derived bills made things far worse, driving up costs particularly for the various classes of Trump supporters. Rand Paul has also been instrumental in working with Trump to do via executive action what Congress has refused to do.

On the other hand, those other three have worked very hard to assure that obamacare continue like it has.

I believe our Founders deliberately put together a system of government where it is purposely difficult to put legislation together and formally authorize it as law. They did so because even though many Trump supporters see things like healthcare and tax reform as meaningful and necessary, we never want Trump (or any President) to have complete carte blanche when it comes to passing new laws.

The issue I have with Senators like McCain, Collins, et al., is not that they "have too much power," but they seem to be completely unwilling to engage in any sort of discourse to arrive at legislation with which they CAN agree. If you take them at their word, they have nearly all said at one time or another, that Obamacare is terrible, and doesn't work for the majority of Americans. I doubt any of them would dispute that our tax system could be improved. Their heels are dug in though, simply to oppose Trump.

If you don't like the way the legislation has been crafted by your party, step up and change it in a meaningful way. Do it not because you want Trump to succeed, but because it would be good for our country and its citizens.

Rand Paul has moved the Bill to the Right and has voted for them, so I don’t think he can be included with these 3.
