President Trump warned on Tuesday that he would "fight back" after Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) delivered a blunt denunciation of nationalist forces that was seen by many as a thinly veiled attack on the president.
"People have to careful, because at some point I fight back," Trump told WMAL radio host Chris Plante. "I'm being very nice. I'm being very, very nice. But at some point I fight back, and it won't be pretty."
McCain responded to Trump's comments moments later, saying that he has "faced far greater challenges than this," according to CNN.

I’m not a never trumper, and I wasn’t joking.
I spend a lot of time defending trump on liberal sites. You should try it sometime. It’s not easy. But my comments to them is that he has ramped up the concept of, “Never believe what a politician sez. Rather, judge him by his actions.”
Part of Trump’s MO is to throw this kind of nonsense around. I think it’s because in a very real way, this whole thing is like a game to him. And that is one reason he can be so successful at it. And he has been quite successful on behalf of us classical liberals. And I love how his rhetoric makes leftists’ heads explode.
My comment about “talk is cheap” is my way of saying, “yeah, we’d love to see you put those words into action, as we know you can and might, but we’ve learned that until you do, they are just words.
I sincerely hope so. It’s way past due, though.

Dear President Trump: Just tell the truth about the lying back-stabbing McCain—especially the part about how McStain’s entire 2016 campaign and campaign promises were a PACK OF LIES.
There isn’t an honorable bone in McStain’s body. He is disgusting, despicable, and has repeatedly betrayed the people of Arizona.
When he finally dies a horrible death (which he deserves), there’s going to be A LOT of happy people in Arizona.
