The FBI Uniform Crime Report (UCR) for 2016 shows more than four times as many people were stabbed to death than were killed with rifles of any kind.
And because the category of rifles covers every type of rifle, this means there would be an even greater divide between the number of people stabbed to death versus those shot to death with an AR-15 or similar rifle.
According to FBI: UCR Table 12, there were approximately 374 people shot and killed with rifles of any kind. There were 1,604 people killed with knives or cutting instruments.
Table 12 also shows that more people were killed via the use of hands, fists, feet, etc., than were killed by rifles of any kind. In fact, the tally shows that the death numbers were not even close. While approximately 374 people were shot and killed with rifles, roughly 656 people were beaten to death with hands, fists, feet, etc.
On September 26, 2016, Breitbart News reported similar gaps between rifle/shotgun homicides and stabbing homicides.

I just checked it out, and there seem to have been quite a few murders with a shovel.
well then time to ban shovels
Incredibly large number of people are killed by cars, but I don’t see any outcry from the libs.
banglist
Wallyworld did a feelgood by outlawing “assault” rifles but still sell knives and booze. I wrote them about this oversight but no response.
Nuthin’ to say about that eh? lol
I was a prosecutor for many years. Of the murder cases I prosecuted, most of them were committed with knives, some were by handguns, and a few by blunt force weapons. None by shotgun or rifle.
It should be limited to 1 knife per household. Enough!
well, then the local wally-world is slipping, they have 6+ Mini-14s in stock.
Shocking I say! Just Shocking! LOL
What I’m supposed to use to cut my steaks? A spork?
You can lend your knife your spouse, but they’ll be required to be register as a co-user of the knife.
Looks like we need an #EveryTown for knife safety
No, they will ignore it because the facts don’t fit their agenda. The year California put in its assault weapon ban there were more people beaten to death by bare hands than were killed with long guns of all kinds. Didn’t affect the pandering for the ban.
If they pass the background checks......
I downloaded the spreadsheet.
2016 Summary:
15,070 known murders by:
All firearms: 73% (~11,000)
Knives: 11% (~1,604)
Hands/feet: 4% (~656)
Other weapons:12% (~1,806)
Of the deaths by firearms (rounded):
Rifles: 3%
Shotguns: 2%
Handguns: 47%
Type unknown: 21%
I could be wrong but I assume the unknown category includes every type of firearm so I allocated the unknown total using the actual known ratio’s for the reported categories which rendered the following allocation of the 11,004 murders by firearms:
Rifles: ~5% (534)
Shotguns: ~3% (370)
Handguns: ~92% (10,100)
According to Hillary she was one if them
So, in the spirit of pandering, I expect some liberal congressmen to sponsor a bill to ban bayonets on rifles, as a compromise measure. That is, in their minds, it would be a reasonable, common-sense gun control measure. /Sarcasm Off.
