President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell reiterated Monday that they want to see a tax bill passed by the end of the year.

"I really believe that we have a very good chance of getting the taxes done ... hopefully fairly long before the end of the year," the president said in a hastily scheduled, roughly 40-minute news conference following a lunch with the Kentucky Republican.

McConnell added: "The goal is to get it done by the end of the year."

The GOPee has been giving Trump similar treatment for at least the last 18 months. They show no signs of stopping now.

It was a good presser and glad to see Trump is trying to work with McConnell and Congress. Trump can’t do it by himself and needs to persuade these politicians to support his agenda.

Don’t know if there are ‘a lot’ but here is one from this past August:

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/08/21/poll-mitch-mcconnells-kentucky-approval-rating-plummets-to-18-percent

And I don’t believe polls in general but I think McConnell does in part.

Obama didn’t get one of this big programs in until the midst of his second year in office."

Mitch is trying to quell the rebellion, rather than delay further, imho. He's surely a bit defensive, but he has a bunch of traitorous senators on his side of the isle. I'm not convinced he's one of them. Yet.

DjT will work with Mitch and get it done. Donald is smooth at disarming opponents, and Mitch will come to appreciate him. DjT will tell Mitch his K street buddies will need to take one for the team or else :)

McConnell-- lacking in motivation so far--will realize that he and a popular President can kick butt for 8 years and fix this country for decades to come. Trump can and will make this sale. They may not have gotten along, but they don't hate each other. There's much to be admired on both sides....I'll bet they've both just realized. And they are basically on the same page...K street being the only major obstacle. Yes, K-street money talks, but so do incumbent primary defeats and the potential loss of control of the senate.

Poll info from KY indicates McConn may be in trouble.

That would explain a change in attitude, which I sensed today.

Ryan has actúally been very supportive of Trump lately, and I think he can be a valuable ally. McConnell is weak, but nothing succeeds like success, and Trump’s recent actions - executive orders cutting through the knot and undoing Obama’s executive orders, full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes - are clearly successes and are making McConnell think that maybe he’d like to be on the Trump side.

The real problem in the Senate is that vicious, spiteful, jealous little old man, McCain. But nature will take its course and I don’t think he’s going to be with us too much longer.

McConnell has long been on board, its Senator McCain, Snow, and Lisa that are not.

McConnell is guilty of not striping those traitors of every position and perk. They should not be on any republican led commdie because they are NOT republicans they are traitors to their own voters having just voted against that which they just campaigned for.

McConnell is not serous until he takes them from power. They don’t deserve that power having just screwed over their entire party.

Mitch is just a placeholder, stalling conservative legislative progress until democrats can take over. Today he just went to be with Trump for some good photo ops, since his polling has gone down in Kentucky.

I’d like to believe you are right there.

I still have this nagging thought in the back of my head that Mitch is trying to play Trump. He’s just that stupid IMO.

He thinks he can roll him play Trump for a fool.

I may be wrong on this, but I don’t have any hope for Mitch to help us.

Remember the other day when he said he was doing away with Blue Slips. He handed that off and did no such thing.

Now another person is handling the situation, and that person says nothing has changed.

Mitch has lost touch with reality. He thinks he’s bigger than Trump,... or anyone for that matter.

His day is coming, and I think it’s sooner than he thinks.

Trump already did two end runs on the guy.

The budget deal

The Obamacare changes

If Trump can’t get their help, he’ll find another way.

Mitch will come up for re-election, and if he thinks he’s going to win again, he’s out of his fricken mind.

Have either of them given us acceptable:

Clean Obamacare repeal
Defunding of Planned Parenthood
Border wall funding
Cutting off of services and direct payments for illegal aliens
DACA repeal
Tax cut plan, restructuring simplification

Neither of them is worth a damn.

Both of them trashed Trump when he was running.

They are both GOPe men.

They are worthless to us.

They have had nine months now.

Where are the investigations of the Clinton Crime Family?

They start off from the outset investigating Trump.

These two are gaming you and the rest of us.

It’s our human nature to give them a break. They haven’t shown one bit of a hing they want to give us one.

I have no used for either one.

Ryan is a smarmy little know it all. He’s too clever by half, and thinks he’s really fooling everyone. He isn’t.

McConnell is not about to let a man who has been in Washington, mere months show him how it’s done.

These are two enemies of our nation.

They have not only blocked everything they could, it was the job of these two to lay out their own plans, work with Trump, and get things done.

We could have had everything I listed above done by now.

E V E R Y T H I N G !

We got nothing!

Was not the repeal of O’Care *THE* proof anyone needed?

6+ yrs of “Repeal! Repeal!” and passing bills w/ NO chance of becoming Law. But, when the (R) gain majority, “Well, we have to go back to square 1...It’s got to be re-written....”.

Amazing the bills they can pull from their drawer when it advances Fedzilla (no debate, never read and QUICK to passage), but to revive a show-boat bill\one that would actually restore, in some small way, Federalism?? Takes the 2nd Coming.

Really wish we had a Sunshine Law at the federal level. Damn tired of back-room bills, written by big-$. Any/all meetings pertaining to govt action: open to the public, or jail time.
