Every patient visiting their family doctor or attending a hospital appointment in England will be asked to declare if they are gay, straight or bisexual under controversial new rules imposed by the NHS. The astonishing diktat – condemned last night as ‘intrusive’ and ‘insulting’ – orders doctors to include details of a patient’s sexuality on their permanent medical record for the first time.

This is what government does. When you give them power, they take more power and take more and more until they become fascist dictators. Happens everywhere. Nothing special about Germany in the 1930’s. Give them power and they become nazis.
The idea is to Not give government power [knowledge/information], but that is not going to happen since the folks always vote for more benefits, which gives the government more power, leading to fascism.

Seriously, I would simply decline to answer such a question. Every time I visit my doctor these days they ask me whether I feel safe in my home, or if I'm being abused ... part of some government mandate. I tell them I won't answer the question since it's an infringement on my privacy.

This is getting scary. I would suggest answering ‘I feel that you are hitting on me doctor. You’re making me feel threatened and uncomfortable’.
I wonder if there is some penalty for supposedly lying.

I would say the NHS provides Third World care, but that would be unfair. To the Third World. I would not send my sick dog to the NHS.

I wonder what the follow up questions would be if the “gay” or “bi” identity were given. It would be interesting.
Oh, that's great and it would probably necessitate some government paperwork and followup with the threatening doctor.
