An American woman and her family, who had been held captive since 2012 by the Taliban-affiliated Haqqani network after being kidnapped while hiking in Afghanistan, were freed I think a 5 years sentence for what is clearly a terminal case of stupidity is a pretty good deal.
Hey idiots: go and stupid no more!

I remember those fools. Hopefully no US personnel were put at risk getting them out.

I'm glad they're freed or released, whatever.
But dayum, who in their right mind would think that a hiking trip to Afghanistan would be a good idea?
Darwin was robbed this go'round. d;^)

From the article:
“The announcement of the release comes a month after President Trump announced a new strategy to deal with Afghanistan and Pakistan, saying the Taliban and other militant groups would no longer find safe haven in Pakistan.”
Obama’a policies stymied again!

“Caitlin Coleman, 32, was seven months pregnant when she and her Canadian husband Josh Boyle were abducted.”
I’m glad she’s free, but what kind of a moron - WHILE SEVEN MONTHS PREGNANT - decides to go hiking in a war torn Muslim country???

Hiking in Afghanistan ... Why didn’y they just go paddleboarding in a cesspool?

I can't even grasp the level of stupidity and insanity of this couple, hiking (and pregnant) in one of the most dangerous places in the world. Perhaps they expected a short stay and were hoping for a chance to be youtube stars.
Hopefully they get NOTHING, but I bet they get a book and movie deal out of it. Instead, they should have their earnings garnished for any expenses the USA had due to their narcissistic attention seeking.
To: CaptainK
US Intel tracked the couple while they were being moved and Pakistan picked them up when they enter the country

The article says the husband refused to get on a U.S. military jet because he feared he would end up in Guantanamo because he had been married to the sister of someone who was there.
