I heard a figure of 500 homes being destroyed.

Incredible. My son lives in SR I (downtown) and the fire line was two blocks away - but downtown survived. The rest is devastation.

I think this is the first big urban area fire we have had for decades.

1,500 minimum.
Cal Fire quit counting and is focused solely on evac.

More likely around 1500 homes/buildings in that area. Very much like the Oakland fire in 1991.

Way more than 500.

Of course it won’t be as bad as the Cedar fire out of San Diego, where about 3,000 homes were lost and 15 died.

It’s hard to believe a fire could sweep through a residential neighborhood like that.

My son just told me his ex-boss’ sister lost her house. They got out safely.

How and why did so many fires suddenly start at the same time?

It’s easy when the winds blow. It’s why many call them the devil winds, down south in CA.

Already at least 1,500 homes lost per Cal Fire. They quit counting until evac is over.

At least 10 confirmed dead, over 100 missing.

My son sent me a photo of the “ash” that landed downtown - it was a 3 inch long burning ember. The wind was 50-60 mph and that was what spread the fire so fast.

It started in Napa County on the other side of the ridge and they’re looking into how it started. I’d say a cigarette or maybe even a fire pit or BBQ.

20 fires started within 2 hours.
Spread across hundreds of miles.
No clouds, no lightening.

Helluva coincidence.

What did “they” need to throw up diversions for?

We have two families in Santa Rosa that are missing. Prayers would be appreciated.

California is to fires what New Orleans is to flooding - both naturally susceptible to these natural disasters.

Why is there no California government official addressing the number and cause(s) of these fires? They can’t be that clueless.............or can they be?

California is broke. Wait until the next big earthquake/tsunami arrives.

It WILL be interesting to hear what *authorities* say caused the fires. I do not discount terrorism...either Islam or perhaps Mexican cartels. It has been reported that *legal* marijuana crops were burned by the fire. Maybe legal pot is biting into their *business*?
