Now President Trump's ex-White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon is eyeing every Republican senator up for re-election next year, positioning candidates in each race save one, the seat belonging to Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.
Bannon's main aim is to elect enough pro-Trump GOP senators to oust Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., who he's largely blamed for the president's early stumbles with Congress, casting the Kentuckian as an elitist looking down at Trump's working class base.
'Mitch McConnell and this permanent political class is the most corrupt and incompetent group of individuals in this country,' Bannon said at a recent rally for Roy Moore, the GOP Senate candidate who won a run-off primary against Sen. Luther Strange, R-Ala., last month.

I know the CDSers will be upset about this.
GO! I support this!
Someone needs to give Soros a big old headache.
Seems to be a sales gimmick for Cruz’s next Presidential run.
This was always the downside of letting Bannon get into the White House. It legitimized him despite his early corruption on Breitbart, and now we’re going to be getting Mercer approved candidates and can’t say anything about it or else “u must b a liberal!1!”

Bannon, I don’t know if you should attach your fortunes to Ted Cruz.
I know, he has plenty of supporters here on FR. But I really didn’t see where he so much as raised a hand, to support American jobs.
That is why Trump won. That is a very important issue.
Offshoring is not why the GOP currently holds the Whitehouse.
Nope. Trump is the reason. And Trump was not for Ted Cruz. Trump BEAT Ted Cruz.
But Cruz is the worst of all?
Bannon's Breitbart never disclosed to their readers their money relationship with Cruz's super donor Mercer. Breitbart used its weekly "who do you support?" poll data to the Cruz campaign, complete with user emails, without publicly disclosing this to their audience. Breitbart also re-wrote Cruz's entire immigration record. For example, claiming Cruz "never introduced legislation to increase H1-B or greencards," when Cruz introduced amendments to do exactly that. This was actually only the smallest lie reported by Breitbart repeatedly as fact.
The "Breitbart is a Pro-Trump sycophant paper!" was a misconception created by Ben Shaprio's overreaction to Breitbart's refusal to die with the Michelle Field's hoax. Almost the entirety of the writers were opposed to Trump and wanted Trump punished over the Fields fiasco. The only exception was Milo and his crew on that website.
My thoughts exactly!
There are only 7 Republican Senators besides Ted Cruz up in 2018:
Bob Corker is retiring.
Flake AZ
Wicker MS
Fischer NE
Heller NV
Hatch UT
Barrasso WY
I forget what other idiotic $hit has come out of his mouth!
He will be in 2020 I think!
Yes!
November 2018 is one of many battles, and certainly not the first.
I’m also not convinced we need to put up candidates against EVERY GOP senator. It seems like a magnificent way to divide up resources to the point of uselessness. Assuming, of course, the statement isn’t hyperbole, something they’re saying as they get the ball rolling.
>> we need to put up candidates against EVERY GOP senator
Definitely. And a number of House members too.
Good this is being discussed now instead of February.
And Cruz proved very disloyal to Trump—before the election and since.
Cruz was Mitch’s point person on repealing Ocare, and we saw how that turned out.
Cruz is loyal to the Bush factor of the GOP.
He could have shone on Ocare and we got bupkus.
As usual.
Most of those probably should be challenged, except for Barrasso, I thought he was solid?
One of the reasons Trump won the primary is because Cruz has the personality of a potato.
Start with millionaires who can self fund. The gun-for-hire(Wyoming) doesn’t count.
