CNN: Documents Show Trump Jr. Meeting Had Zero to Do With Dirt on Clinton

The controversial June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower between Russians, Donald Trump Jr. and others was indeed about the Magnitsky Act, not dishing dirt on Hillary Clinton, CNN reported.

Documents provided to CNN back Trump Jr.'s account — and that of Jared Kushner — that the meeting was insignificant and a waste of their time.

An attorney for the Russian billionaire who requested the meeting provided the documents to CNN, and suggested the mixup originated with the publicist who brokered the meet and greet with Trump Jr., Kushner and other members of President Donald Trump's campaign.

The attorney, Scott Balber, told CNN that the publicist, Rob Goldstone, "probably exaggerated and maybe willfully contorted the facts for the purpose of making the meeting interesting to the Trump people."

And the seeds of a Russia collusion story were born, CNN reported.

"The documents … are consistent with my client's understanding of the purpose of the meeting which was from the beginning and at all times thereafter about her efforts to launch a legislative review of the Magnitsky Act," Balber told CNN.

I wonder for how long has CNN been sitting on this story... They likely learned that another news outlet obtained these documents and had no choice put to run the story or lose the scoop.

OK, this will save the taxpayers tons of money since we can now shut down the Mueller Inquisition immediately, right?

The Mueller Inqisistion had better be careful about skinning any smokewagons against the Trump team.

The Deplorables are not going to stand around with their thumbs up their keesters like the Clintonites had to do when Big Bill had his Weinstein moment in 1998-99...

Mueller needs to shut down this farce of an investigation.

That would be a first, and I for one am not at all confident that Mueller will not go right along until he can charge someone with something within the Trump Administration.

Just because the meeting was insignificant doesn't mean that Mueller can't get his grand jury to bring indictments against Trump's son and against Jared Kushner. After all, they met with a Russian, and they wanted to hurt Hillary's chances of winning. Two felonies right there in the eyes of a typical denizen of Washington, DC, or viewer of CNN. Mueller's mandate is to do whatever he can to hurt Trump.

There was a report recently that he was trying to find ways to get Democratic attorneys general at the state level to go after his targets so that President Trump would not be able to pardon them.

“Balber also suggested that Goldstone “probably exaggerated and maybe willfully contorted the facts for the purpose of making the meeting interesting to the Trump people.””

In other words, the Russki agents lied to Don Jr. about the purpose of the meeting. Notice that there are no emails to or from Don Jr. about this, just internal Russki emails, and all of a sudden we’re supposed to believe that their word is gospel, you know, the very people you, the leftist media, have been trying to convince us are oh so evil.

Another nothing-burger.

BTW, CNN, we regular Americans have totally tuned out the leftist media “russian conspiracy” nonsense, so the more ya’ll push it, the fewer people who pay ANY attention to ya’ll whatsoever.

Yeah I saw that about Mueller & the State AG's. I have been suspect of this ass clown since he was first selected to be a special prosecutor, even before he brought in a bunch of Clinton cronies to work with him.

So you must believe as I do that all this nonsense that Mueller will pack up and go home is hogwash too I take it. Congress needs to pull the plug on Muller and open up investigations against Hillary, Obama, and a slew of Democrats. They are all guilty as hell of sedition, and subversion of the U.S. Constitution.

On a thread about Harvey Weinstein, people were wondering why NYT was coming out with that story now.

Freeper GYPSY286 mentioned that Project Veritas was coming out with an expose of news outlets and maybe these news stories are both a result.

Heck no . . . let the investigation continue!

Freepers, the further this goes without the Keystone Cops coming up with anything means that INDEPENDENTS will continue to shift their support to Trump and the proxies that will run in Congressional and Senate elections!

How many of you have read Clancy’s Executive Orders? Right now the ENTIRE Dem Party is acting out the Edward Kealty character. Clancy’s fictional anti-Ryan protagonist represents the entirety of the Left as being played out both in the political wing and their media enablers. The Trump Administration is basically so familiar if you read that novel!

Kealty eventually implodes in the novel as less people take him seriously and that is exactly playing out in real life here. The LONGER the investigation goes without any clear link of collusion and those who do not vote for ideological reasons will realize that this was truly a witch hunt to overturn an election and they will gradually come over to our side on the issues.

Be patient . . . time is on our side on this issue.

And please, start spending our time and efforts on starting to take back our educational entities, that’s where the action needs to be.

Did you think that maybe Mueller knew from the beginning that there’s a big nothing burger here? But he has to have a credible investigation, and for this reason he brings in the most junk yard dogs of all, liberals, democrats, Clinton loving etc. so that when he does report nothing, no one is going to say that he padded his team with lawyers loyal to Trump.

In the end, this has the appearance that it might the biggest frigging vindication of Trump’s innocence.

I’m thinking the best might come out of this for Trump, and in turn will make Sessions and the rest look good too.

Disagree.

Trump needs to shut the Mueller Inquisition down in a very public way. National Prime-Time TV speech. Name every lawyer Herr Mueller appointed, point out their hourly rates, itemize every travel, hotel, and meal expense, then list all the jackbooted things they have done, like raiding Manafort’s house in the middle of the night.

Make sure the American people get the full grasp of what a partisan, mean-spirited, DNC-run witch hunt it is, and then tell them the reason he is shutting it down is because even CNN fake news admits this is fake news, and the taxpayers deserve not to have a bunch of elitist lawyers running up extravagant expenses on their dime.

Finally, point out that every lawyer hired by Herr Mueller is a DNC stooge, that the DNC is broke, and that this has been their taxpayer-funded dig-up-dirt for the 2020 campaign slush-fund.

Close with saying this is just one more small step in draining the swamp.

BOOM! Suddenly, the DNC has to spend real money to go on the DEFENSIVE.

Rule #1 of Politics

When your enemy is self-destructing, LET THEM.

Firing Mueller changes the story from Russia to Trump. The story right now is WHERE WE WANT IT. If he fires Mueller he gives the Left a way out of the box they are now in. Mueller HAS TO FIND SOMETHING or the non-ideologues in this country will punish the Dems for their waste of time and money.

YOU might feel better if he does this but Trump has a straight flush right now and is all in against a bluff. Don’t give the other side any chance of getting their a** out of the fire THEY created.

It’s a possibility, however, since Comey wanted him (they are not only former co-workers but good friends as well) it would be a stretch to believe that is the reality. I believe he is nothing more than another swamp monster feathering his own nest like the rest of the swamp monsters. We will see which proves to be the case. I pray that you are right, but I have lost faith in all of these so-called honorable people.

Your scenario will be all glossed-over by the media while the DNC is getting free opposition research on the taxpayer dime. The voters won’t find out how badly the Mueller-DNC Inquisition behaved unless Trump makes an issue of it. Let the media try to feebly spin their way out of every fact Trump presents clearly and objectively to the American people. The DNC will be destroyed, and the media will once again be exposed as DNC shills creating fake news.
