Firearm safety. How to change a flat tire. How to drive a car with a manual transmission. Not to walk through sketchy neighborhoods, particularly after dark. Basic basic life skills that every parent should teach.

(BTW If a pollster calls me, all my guns were tragically lost in the hurricane!)

Wow, I thought I was the only one who thought it was important to teach their kids how to drive a manual. Way to go.

Firearm safety is very important. I never learned how to change a flat tire, I was afraid the car would fall on me. but I was always lucky that someone stopped and changed it for me. I also called my husband to come and change it for me.

My husband tried to teach me to drive a car with a stick shift. He called me stupid when I couldn't do it, and that was in Germany. When he was transferred back to the states we bought a brand new 1966 Chevrolet Impala convertible with automatic transmission, and when he went to Vietnam on his first tour in 1967 I hired a driving teacher that taught me to drive.
