Investigators are trying to determine whether someone else was in the Las Vegas gunman's hotel room when he was registered there, senior law enforcement officials briefed on the investigation told NBC News.
The investigators are puzzled by two discoveries: First, a charger was found that does not match any of the cellphones that belonged to the gunman, Stephen Paddock.
And second, garage records show that during a period when Paddock's car left the hotel garage, one of his key cards was used to get into his room.
There are several possible explanations for these anomalies, the investigators say, but they want to get to the bottom of it.
They are also examining his finances. IRS records show that Paddock was a successful gambler, earning at least $5 million in 2015. Some of that could be from other investments, but most of it was from gambling, officials say.

Gamblers often declare all of their gambles so that they can deduct losses against other gains.
But this article is claiming he made most of $5 million off casinos? That is extremely hard to believe.
I wonder if it was a journalistic mistake or legit
I agree. Most people don't make that kind of money, unless playing celebrity poker with high stakes and the celebrity that goes along with it. I read elsewhere he made money off real estate dealings; that's more likely to be the source of his income.
So the media got to look at the IRS records. Yeh...right.
A few minutes ago the Under Sheriff essentially denied that there was another person in the room. He also said that the security guard was shot BEFORE the crowd spraying began.
So they have so any footage in the casino. They had Ray Rice and his fiancée in elevator at the Revel AC
I wanted to add something I found from another new article today.
“There was initial speculation that Paddock had outside help in perpetrating the shooting spree, but authorities now say there is nothing to suggest he had assistance.
Law enforcement officials briefed on the investigation told CNN they have seen no indication so far that Paddock had an accomplice or that anyone was aware of his attack planning.
Lombardo, the sheriff, had previously expressed skepticism that the gunman carried out his plan by himself.”
I want to know why security was responding to a door alarm on the 32nd floor. Did the real shooter escape?
How tough is it to get the video from the Hotel? They tape all floors all the time.
Most likely the casino’s were just a cash conduit. It’s been going on for 50 years. I’ve seen it first hand.
So, he dumped something or had an odd man out.
Yeah - it would seem to be pretty dang easy to check it out, they gotta have cams all over the place.
Wow I definitely didn’t know that, about the security guard getting shot before the main shooting began.
All through the casinos, out on the streets, in the parking lots, the elevators. Yet, there's been no video of him entering or exiting the building over the three or four days he was there.
Always with that one pic of him with his eyes closed in some casino.
We are being lied to in a huge way.
I would be surprised if he had help. He was not a social person, so why would he risk failure/disclosure by involving someone else?
He may have had a plan to escape but knew that plan B (killing himself) was far more likely.
Oh there’s video. It’s part of an ongoing investigation and releasing it at this time might compromise that investigation.
We all want the truth. Getting to that truth might mean a delay in the release of information/evidence that you might think you have a right to see.
It’s possible. It’s also possible that one or more other attackers were somewhere outside of the hotel.
In hindsight...there were a couple pauses. I think MAYBE he checked the camera at the peephole...OR...on his computer if that's where it was streaming to...We just don't know enough.
Gotta be a journalist who doesn’t understand the basics of how all those big hotels were built in LV - it sure wasn’t done by letting high-rollers get out of the place ahead by 7-figures/year. This would especially apply to someone purportedly doing all of his gaming on the high-stakes video poker game. I could possibly believe it if he were playing live poker against other players since the house only gets a “rake” for dealing the cards & all the money on the table belongs to the players at that table. You are leaving with their money if you’re a winner.
The desk has a record of the number of key cards issued to their guest(s) - how many were issued?
I said in another story that given these new facts, could it be that he DID have help, and on the day we see the car leave and the key entry into his room was a dry run of placing the car near the tanks loaded with explosives? He went back into his room (or someone else) to see what it looked like 1) in the day so 2) he could get the view from the rooms vantage point. Possibly why the specific windows were selected. For some reason, the car was not in the right place that night, so pot shots were taken at the tanks. Gig was up, did what he could and offed himself.
