Austin City Limits Festival Offers Refunds Following Attack

The Austin City Limits music festival is offering refunds to anyone uncomfortable with attending following the mass shooting at a country music concert in Las Vegas.

Spokeswoman Sandee Fenton said in an email Tuesday that the three-day outdoor festival will give refunds to fans "who no longer wish to attend." The festival opens Friday and packs Austin, Texas' downtown with about 75,000 people each day.

The offer comes a few days after a gunman opened fire at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas.

Austin City Limits is one of the largest music festivals in the United States. It's headlined this year by Jay Z and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Austin Interim Police Chief Brian Manley says there will be a high presence of law enforcement at the festival.

Pretty safe bet that very few will take them up on the offer. But a nice gesture nontheless.

Are we afraid to go outdoors yet?

I'd hope Texans and other country music fans are more of the mind of this guy about any threats.

Figures . . . it’s a sanctuary city so likely plenty of candidates to be copycats.

I appreciate people’s concerns. But what are the odds of another mass shooting at an outdoor music festival?

They have huge waiting lists for tickets every year anyway.

Moot, but publicly appealing gesture on their part.

Austin had that clock tower shooting back in the 70’s.

We are no longer America. We can longer go out and do the things we do with out the threat of getting caught up in a mass murder, violent protest or some other crime. Wherever you go some Muslim, some violent Liberal or other liberal crook is waiting for prey.

America is dead.

Now I eagerly await Jesus return

You are no more in danger at these concerts than you were before the shooting in Las Vegas. Returning to attending concerts after 1 year is no more rational than returning today.

The odds are still heavily in favor of another outdoor concert killing not happening....but they are certainly greater that at any other time in our nations history.

Nice but “Interim Police Chief” has it all under control. /sarc

Most of the cancellations will come from international ACL attendee fiends.

“................I’ve convinced my musical fanatic son and daughter to stay away!”

Why? Everything will be pretty safe for a while.

They’re just trying to drum up more business for their festival.

Country music fans are not the type to back down from a good time because of one lame-brained nut.
