Puerto Rican born and raised, Colonel Michael A. Valle (”Torch”), Commander, 101st Air and Space Operations Group, and Director of the Joint Air Component Coordination Element, 1st Air Force, responsible for Hurricane Maria relief efforts, has the following comment:
…They have the generators, water, food, medicine, and fuel on the ground, yet the supplies are not moving across the island as quickly as they’re needed.
“It’s a lack of drivers for the transport trucks, the 18 wheelers. Supplies we have. Trucks we have. There are ships full of supplies, backed up in the ports, waiting to have a vehicle to unload into. However, only 20% of the truck drivers show up to work. These are private citizens in Puerto Rico, paid by companies that are contracted by the government”.. (link)
The ports are so full of relief supplies they can’t fit any more on the available space. CNBC ground report confirms Colonel Valle’s ground report. WATCH:

Puerto Rico is in crisis.
Government efforts should have moved into crisis mode to help Puerto Ricans.
Meaning that, union pacts and politics and every other encumbrance, would have to be declared invalid. Any union workers not showing up to work, would lose their jobs and rights. I remember what happened when Reagan went around the flight controllers union to get the airline flights going again, and that union has still not recovered from what hit them. Trump should be doing the same with the current crisis in San Juan, including arresting the mayor of San Juan who is doing nothing but making things a lot more difficult.
What a WASTE of Good Supplies!
Just send them some old inner tubes and a bicycle pump, and call it Done and over!
Federalize all truckers and order them back under threat of arrest. Or bring in US truckers, give them military escorts and let them do the work. Our guys would be better and faster than those Shipwrecked Mexicans.
Maybe it is past time for some good PR’s to show ropes and lamplights to the San Juan Mayor and these union thug truck drivers.
