To no ones surprise, President Donald Trump is apparently furious over his woefully misguided decision to go all-in for Luther Strange in Alabamas U.S. Senate primary.
It was a decision that blew spectacularly up in the presidents face last night with Stranges massive 10-point loss to Roy Moore, an outsider much closer in spirit to Trumpism than establishment crony Strange.
In what is becoming a disturbing pattern, Trumps son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner was apparently one of those who advised the president to back Strange, to once again sail into big, jagged rocks a humiliation for Trump that anyone with any real-world political sense should have (and did) seen coming from a mile away.
Appointed under shady circumstances, Strange is a walking-talking poster child for everything Trump ran against, a good ole boy, Republican establishment backslapper strongly backed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who has done nothing but post failure after failure since Trumps inauguration.
What makes this Kushner catastrophe even more notable than the others (which I will get to), is that this time Trump led with his chin, was out there publicly championing a sure-loser, and most importantly, was doing so in defiance of his own base.
For the first time since he stepped into the political arena, Trump did not look like a leader, he looked led he looked like a weak politician being handled and manipulated.

Kushner also pushed for ..
“With Scaramucci debacle, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner again prove they are lousy personnel managers”
Kushner pushed for Scaramucci - very bad decision!
Likely more much ado about nothing, I’ve always thought that Trump endorsed Luther as to play nice with McConnell and nothing else.
“But over the last week in Alabama, Trump did not look like his own man. Rather, he looked out of touch, like someone who no longer trusts the instincts that made him our 45th president, like someone who is relying on those with their own agenda.”
Interesting observation.

What is it with the folks who are so challenged by continuing to think Trump is comparable to the Wizard of Oz Scarecrow?
Trump does have a brain. He knows that his goals are, and how he is trying to attain them.
I wish some folks would quit looking up his ass with a magnifying glass.

...
Purposeful feigned fury I’d wager...well played, too. Media is distracted, they think Trump team is fractured and limping.
Red herring stuff.
Unfortunately, some here will think this is real. and, ‘oh no!

Saying it was bad advice is asine. Suppose Trump backed Moore and Strange won? In cas you cant play 3D chess as Trump does, Strange then becomes a younger McCain ready to stop Trump for years
Just curious, what’s up with the link also.
Nolte has been strongly pro-Trump since the primaries. I agree with him. Kushner is way, way out of his league here. Totally unqualified to be advising a POTUS on issues like this.
Bannon despises Kushner.
Well, he’s not the only one.
I’m starting to think Trump and team will ride the, “Blame Jared” horse until the glue factory. It is working and provides a nice media conundrum.
Can anyone show me some bonfires that ANY IDEA actually came from Jared???
The answer is no, you can’t. You are not in the white house.
Do I like Jaranka? No, but to think they are anything but pretty pets is stupid.
One of my new friends used to work luckily, on the Trump campaign. He/she said that Kushner took Bannon’s credits when he did close to nothing. The guy who got fired Corey Lewandowski before Bannon was the real engine of the Trump Campaign. It was Kushner who told Trump to tone down the rhetoric about the wall etc but Corey said to to jack and ramp it up, which led to his firing. Obviously, Trump will side with the in-law.

welcome
total bull shit
Even folks with a level head sucker for the wrong meme from time to time.
We don’t know if Trump was gaming McConnell here, or what his ultimate goal was.
There are several explanations for what was going on here.
Naturally one of them focuses on the one of the two people Trump’s supposed supporters fixate on most.
I can't imagine that Jared or Ivanka cares that much about Alabama politics or that they are the president's go-to guys when it comes to primary endorsements.
It might have been assumed that the guy who got the seat would get the presidential endorsement, but do you really think Jared Kushner was in there passionately fighting to get the president to endorse Strange over Moore?
Would that really have been one of Kushner's priorities? Or is "it's Jared Kushner's fault" now the shorthand way of describing decisions that aren't that conservative or that successful?
Kushner is a creature of the swamp. Trump should apply the Costanza Reversal Principle to any advice proffered by Kushner.
