The stunning defeat of President Trumps chosen Senate candidate in Alabama on Tuesday amounted to a political lightning strike setting the stage for a worsening Republican civil war that could have profound effects on next years midterm elections and undermine Trumps clout with his core voters.
It marked yet another humiliation for the Washington-based Republican establishment, particularly Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), whose allies pumped millions of dollars into the race to prop up Strange and reassure his colleagues that they could survive the Trump era.
If youre an incumbent, you have to assume the wind is against you, said consultant Tom Ingram, a longtime Corker adviser. If you do run, you take nothing for granted and leave nothing on the table. You start out with one big strike against you: Youre an incumbent Republican senator.

All he need do is back Moore 100% and it’s game on.

From this morning’s tweet, it looks like he’s already on-board (well, no surprise, really... who else COULD he back, the RAT?). :-)
Now can we swap out Sessions for Moore as head of the DOJ? Sessions was a much better Senator than bureaucrat. Day One: Mueller fired. Day two: Hilary indicted.
The willful ignorance of the political class is confounding but welcomed. It’s like all them have and old playbook. Money is not enough you need a message and people are turning off football and paying attention
I didnt think Bannon really meant it when he said he would be more helpful to get POTUS agenda through out of the WH.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I believed Bannon 100% & my comment at the time was that those who were gloating & happy that he was ‘out of the WH’ & insinuating if not outright saying there were problems between Bannon/Trump, were going to wish he was back in the WH, pushing papers at a desk. Bannon is a DOER, not a talker (although he does that well, too) and he’s the sharpest tool in the shed.
I am so looking forward to it....
Just jumping in out of turn, but I tend not to be a big fan of the genus Amanita...
“LOL! The Washington Post seems happy Judge Roy Moore won! “
I don’t think they understand what happened last night. Trump’s base knows he is more aligned with Moore than Strange. So why did Trump support Strange?
Art of the deal.
Republicans love 0bamacare.
“Youre an incumbent Republican senator”
And it sucks to be you.
No, instead of giving them a decade plus, make the job simpler. Each bill, no attachments. Votes straight up and down. One single typed page for each bill, 10 point print.
Oh look another WaPo story that no matter what happens it’s always bad for the gop.
Rest assured that if Strange won Costa had an article ready in his drawer stating how this is bad for the gop because the Bannon wing of the party that gave the gop so much momentum has now been defeated/neutralized or....whatever other narrative he would come up with that casts the gop in the worst possible light.
I got in my truck this morning at 5:30 AM. The first thing I here on the news is that the Trump-backed candidate got shellacked in Alabama! Of course, they mentioned that this will leave a huge black-eye on the President. And his failure to deliver this victory was because of his loss of support from his core voter block “which lead him to an upset victory, less than a year ago”.
Of course, they didn’t mention that the winner, Moore, is MORE conservative than the GOPe backed loser! How convenient that they forgot to mention this morsel of pertinent information.
Reading Corker’s consultant comments makes me think Lindsey Graham’s health care bill was about protecting Corker et al in the upcoming elections.
Fake Federalism that it was....
Chris McDaniel tells me Mercers & others have collectively pledged more than $1m to a Wicker challenge. Will make final decision next month. @costareports
The article is a 600 word joke
When you think about Republicans electing both Judge Roy Moore and Kid Rock... it really speaks to the broadness of the Trump coalition.
I don't think the key is regionalism, either. I can see Kid Rock winning in Alabama and Roy Moore winning in Michigan.
BS. Didn’t matter what trump did. Moore would have won. This election had nothing to do with Trump.
MOORE WINNING!!!
He's just like McNuts! "Let's screw the people as long as we're alive!"
