RUSH: Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert of Texas. Its Texas. It isnt Texas. Its Texas. And its even better if youre wearing a J.R. Ewing 10-gallon Stetson when you say it. Anyway, Louie Gohmert yesterday urged Arizona to recall Sen. John McCain amid his recent brain cancer diagnosis, while criticizing his Republican colleague for going back on his 2016 campaign vow to repeal Obamacare.
Gohmert was on Fox & Friends yesterday morning, he said, [McCain] is one of those that said I will repeal if he had said last year what he was going to do, he would have lost. If he would have told the people of Arizona that this is what he was gonna do, he would have lost.
And then Louie Gohmert said this: Nothing inhibits recovery from cancer like stress. I think Arizona could help him, and us. Recall him, let him fight successfully this terrible cancer, and lets get someone in here who will keep the word he gave last year. McCains office did not respond to Fox News request for comment on Gohmerts remarks.
As per a Congressional Research Service report, the United States Constitution does not provide for nor authorize the recall of United States officers such as Senators, Representatives, or the President or Vice President. They can be expelled by their colleagues, but not recalled by voters. So what Louie he wanted, what Louie suggested, what Louie advised, cant be done.
Well, if they cannot recall him quickly, perhaps the reaper can pay him an overdue visit.
“Recall McCain”
I think there is a higher power working on that.....
It would be better if McCain focused on making amends rather than revenge.
Make amends—then go! Or like a golfing buddy says, “Take two weeks off, and QUIT!!”
I am sure many would like to see a recall of McCain as would I. But Senator Frank Church was recalled and took it to federal court and won that it was unconstitutional to recall a US Senator. There is no explicit provision in the Constitution to recall a US Senator.
Still, I would like to see an effort made because it would bring the issue into the news cycle and would support a stronger measure that would not only allow recalls of US Senators but also offer to voters to trade their right to ‘hire’ a US Senator for the right to ‘fire’ a US Senator.

AMENDMENT XXVIII (’Federal State Rebalancing’)
To restore the foundational structure of State Legislatures to Congress, the following amendment is proposed:
************************************************
Section 1.
Senators in Congress shall be subject to recall by their respective state legislature or by voter referendum in their respective state.
Section 2.
Term limits for Senators in Congress shall be set by vote in their respective state legislatures but in no case shall be set less than twelve years nor more than eighteen years.
Section 3:
The seventeenth article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is hereby repealed.
************************************************
Already there is a critical mass of state legislatures developing to pass such an amendment and there have recently been political heavyweights supporting the above and saying that the threat of recall would have stopped Obamacare from passing in the first place.
We natives are restless, and we are thirsty for RINO and Liberal blood.
12 year minumum terms? Sounds like a horrible idea to me. It’s already too hard to hold them accountable.
I read the Arizona recall law last week and it doesn’t appear to apply to federal elected officials.
Actually, Arizona is having big problems with the PPACA.
The benchmark Silver Plan premium for a 27-year old in Arizona went from $196/month in 2016 to $422 in 2017.

ASPE RESEARCH BRIEF
HEALTH PLAN CHOICE AND PREMIUMS
IN THE 2017 HEALTH INSURANCE MARKETPLACE
October 24, 2016
The PPACA is causing higher-income young people in Arizona to grossly overpay for coverage.
In Alaska, the 2017 benchmark plan price for a 27-year old is $760/month, up from $590/month for 2016.
So the only solution is absolute term limits.
Can’t recall a sitting senator or congressman. Gohmert should know that.
Na, the devil uses his time to go after the ones who are on the fence. He wont need to be in a hurry for this guy, he bought his soul long ago.
That makes sense
IT”S TEXAS PADNAH! AND SMILE WHEN YOU SAY THAT!!
“we are thirsty for...”
I think the Republicans need to focus on making individual coverage affordable.
This would mean allowing people not eligible for a federal subsidy to buy coverage without every expensive bell and whistle of Obamacare.
Its nearly October, individual market coverage normally begins in January. The clock is ticking.
Im 58, low-income and would like the best coverage $150/month could buy.
Wouldn’t make a difference how it’s written. The Constitution specifies how senators are selected, and adds “Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members”. Once selected, only the member’s legislative body can remove him.
Can senators be recalled?
Are you a Christian? If so, you must look at the 0care alternatives. They are close to your budget limit.
A Senator’s term is six years. The above amendment was written to accommodate states that want to limit their US Senators to two terms and states that want to limit to three terms.
Recall is essential as it eases the repealing of the 17th.
The 17th is directly responsible for the massive growth of centralized federal government. It was driven by the observation that US Senators appointed by state legislatures would sell their votes to wealthy interests and ignore the legislatures that appointed them.
Recall is what should have happened in place of the 17th as it would have allowed state legislatures to keep the attention of the US Senators they appointed. Adding voter referendum recalls allows voters to bypass corrupt state legislatures.
It all balances out.
Senators and Representatives can only be removed by their peers. Arizona can’t recall him, and McCain has one or two years to live. There is no point, or need, to attempt a recall.
